Committed to 2010 Exercise Goal

Recommended Posts

Soon after getting my sleeve (about 3 months ago) I read an article about a local triathalon that's focus is to empower women to be the best they can be. The triathalon is called the "Ramblin Rose". As triathalons go it's an easy one- you swim 250 yards, bike 9 miles and then run (or run/walk or walk) 2 miles. The neat thing about this triathalon is you can sign up for a mentor program. People help you train. Even if you have never swam before they will teach you. So three months ago I decided it would be a perfect exercise goal for me in 2010. Well sometimes I can be all talk (I talked about wanting to sky drive back in my 20's and never did that either!!!) But I just paid my entry fee for the triathalon- so I am committed. It is not until Sept 26 so I have plenty of time to train- I am nervous and excited at the same time. I will let you know of my progress.

Just to give you an update on this Triathlon training. I joined a local group called "Tri it for Life" that helps mentor you for the event. The training with them hasn't started yet. It's funny the mentors say "we have plenty of time to train" and my mind thinks I will NEED plenty of time. I have started lifting weights 3 times a week- this will help my body overall and especially my endurance. And last week I started the combination of walking/running on the treadmill. Mainly walking right now but at least I am running some. Right now walking 2 min and running 1- towards the end of the 30 min those minutes are

v e r y long! But I haven't quit and going back in a few minutes. Have a great day all!

Wow, I'm so inspired! I have been a little afraid to schedule anything, just because I didn't want to put that kind of pressure on myself, but I just might now! You go!!

Well the mentor training for the triathlon has officially started- I have 12 weeks till the triathlon. I am swimming for an hour 3-4 times a week, doing the run/walk combination 2-3 times a week, bike 1-2 times a week and then trying to find time for weights at least 2 times a week. It is definitely keeping me busy!! I did sign up for this swim program one day a week with work. Although it's intense it has been rewarding. This week that crazy instructor had us swim 450 yards just as a warm-up!!! I did everything and I got a great feeling of accomplishment after the class.

I was selective on who I told about WLS. Everyone else just thinks that all my training is the reason I am loosing weight. And for me that works!!

Someone from work came up to me yesterday and asked if I wanted to do a 5K run in October. A 5K is only a little over 3 miles and that sounds very do-able. Last year at this time I was doing good to go up stairs without huffing and puffing and this year I am being asked to join a group doing a 5K-- what a difference!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
