I remember the days of having to order 2 extra large pizzas just for 3 people because my daughter and i could polish them off without a problem . . hubbie doesn't eat that much. . but daughter and i ?? Wow. . . now she doesn't like that i don't eat as much, she is proud of my weight loss and all, and is glad that i'm doing something about my weight, but i was her food buddy, i told her i will be more then happy to come with her and drink my tea or coffee while she enjoys a meal. . . that is ok with her too. . . bless her heart. . .

I got a hankering for looking up my ex on Facebook tonight. It's been 7.5 years since we split, and tonight seeing his picture, I realized, I'm beyond elated that I did not reconcile with him. Living well really is the best revenge.

He apparently married the herpe-infested whore that he was slumming around with, and I knew they had a kiddo together. She didn't bother telling him she had genital herpes until after they had been together for months, I had to tell him. Then, she neglected to tell him she was pregnant, and I found out before he did. She's a real gem. Sad thing is we were really close friends for about 2 years, and this totally blind-sided me.

I know I should not vindictive, or upset. But, that man destroyed my very soul and I was in a very dark place for many years because of the heartache he inflicted on me. Seeing his picture, and knowing that I am in a better place mentally, physically and emotionally made my day.

My confession to go along with this story is that I grinned from ear to ear seeing that he hasn't aged well, and has gained a bunch of weight, and she is still just as fat and trashy looking as she was when I broke off our relationship so they could live their little life openly instead of behind my back.

I know that makes me sound like a horrible person, but it's the truth.

hahaha! Tiffany, I had to chuckle at that confession. Facebook is a wonderful thing!!! I checked out my ex's profile too, and had only one thought in my mind. I am sure you and I share the same thought- GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!!

Your not a horrible person Tiff! Your a normal, wonderful person who is a good friend and a great inspiration to all of us. . . if your ex didn't see that and had to go and cheat on you with herpes woman, then God knew you and he weren't meant to be and that John and you were meant to be. . . he needed to be with herpes woman! Good, I'm glad he's aging the wrong way and has gained weight. . . he should see you now huh????

Agreed 100%, I think what pisses me off the most is the 12 pap smears I had to endure to make sure I didn't contract her herpes funk. I've never had a yeast infection much less an STD/STI or virus. Talk about unnerving when I spent 3 years getting swabbed and poked to make sure I didn't contract anything. I honestly thank the good Lord above that I escaped that relationship.

I confess that right now I'd love to be sitting with my best friend talking trash with an extra dirty martini, one olive and one onion... smoking a cigarette.

Yesterday was the closest thing to a pre-op day I've had since surgery. My son and I decided to spend the day together running around, and we left the house with me not even realizing that I hadn't had anything to drink other than two cups of coffee, and nothing at all to eat. Stopped by the health-food store and among the neat little things we picked up were a small container of their Kashi -- not the brand, but the salad-type thing with parsley, seeds, quinoa, soybeans... good stuff, but all vegetarian, so all carbs. Ate probably half a cup of that. Then made chili for dinner, ate a whole scoop so there were a lot of Beans, then later I had a date-roll coated in coconut... I think it was all fruit, there were no ingredients listed on the package, but THAT was all carbs! There was plenty of snacking on 'legal' stuff in between too.

Just a munch, grazy, snacky day with too many carbs. And I JUST realized it was all a head hunger/bad habit thing. Didn't really realize that as it hasn't been an issue for me up til now. Damn.

Stacy,

I don't have an issue with anything you ate yesterday. It was healthy, minimally processed food high in excellent nutrients. Yes, it was higher carb, but at least it was healthy carbs not empty carbs. It's not like you were sittin' on your ass eating potato chips!

Go easy on your carbs the rest of the week and you'll be right back on track.

Isn't it amazing how quickly we change our way of thinking? Pre-op, I'd have considered that an excellent eating day LOL... yesterday I felt like I'd slipped up--how crazy is that? :001_tt2: This thing SO totally rocks!

Stacy, I know just how you feel on that! A couple weeks ago I had one of those "gotta munch" days...I tracked everything...but felt like I had really been indulgent with myself and had overdone it.

Grim total that day?? 1064 calories, 65 grams of carbs and 87 gram protien.

Now....I know people that have lost over 100# by keeping carbs under 100 grams per day and eating 1800 calories a day. It's all perspective, and sometimes we're just too hard on ourselves. I now believe in following my personal set of dietary rules 90% of the time. The other 10% I make informed choices. They might not be the best food choice, but I as long as I know what's in there and what I'll have to do to counteract it...I'm fine. For instance, last weekend I went to visit my brother's family. They had tacoes for supper (per my request). I had a corn tortilla...it was probably 16 grams of carbs in one tortilla shell. I enjoyed EVERY bite! I could only eat one, it isn't something I do every day and I felt very normal, and very satisfied with my "real food" portion! A year ago I would have eaten at least 4 tacoes.

I had surgery to control my portions and be satisfied with less. Not to eat lousy food and to obsess about grams of this or that.

What are our % supposed to be anyhow folks????? Carbs < 30 % ; Proteins 60 - 80 grams; fats????? does that sound about right??? if the carb count is supposed to be <30% that is really tough. . .

ThinOneDay,

my surgeon recommends 600-800 calories, 30 grams of carbs and 70 grams of Protein daily during the high weight loss phase. Your surgeon might say something else. A nutritionist usually recommends higher calories and higher carbs. 30 and under carb grams is tough. It takes real planning and I think it leaves out some really healthy eating. Like I've said elsewhere, I prefer a modified form of it. I eat healthy carbs in moderation (like Beans, healthy vegetables, high Fiber fruit, vegetables and grains). Then I make sure that my processed carbs don't go over 20 on that day. For instance, I'm not going to forego having a healthy bowl of chili, which is high in Protein and Fiber, just because the Beans are high carb. However, if I have a few fritos with it, I'm going to count those carbs as they're more "dangerous" carbs, more processed and higher glycemic impact.

Alot depends on your activity level.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
