belly button issues

Recommended Posts

Hope this is the place for this:

My belly button is all red and itchy.:scared0:

I have an "inney" It is pretty deep.

I don't know if I am not getting it dry after showering or what.:confused1:

When I work out at the gym, I get sweaty around my waist, I think some sweat goes in there and stays.:crying:

I am putting antibiotic cream on it with a q~tip. I am now drying it with a Q~tip. Should I use powder? After it is cleared up.

Any other suggestions? Anyone else experiencing this?

I am worried this can spread to the folds of skin I am developing.:)

I use Dial soap on my belly button just as a precaution. I haven't had any issues yet, but I do use my blow dryer on low for a couple of minutes just to make sure it's dry.

Caysen (the kiddo) had an irritation in his belly button after swimming in the Gulf down here. PCM said to use Gold Bond Medicated powder twice a day.

My mom is diabetic and can quickly get rash/infection from damp skin. Her doctor also recommends Gold Bond Medicated. Do you have an discharge or odd smell? If so, I suggest seeing your doctor. If not, you may just want to try the powder.

once all the broken skin is healed...and not until then!....you can take a quick swipe in there with an alcohol swab daily. The alcohol kills germs and evaporates very quickly so it doesn't stay moist and invite infection.

Now that you're aware of it, it probably won't be an issue.

OH yeah, swimming. The pool at the gym is salt Water. ??? Maybe that has caused it? I will get the gold bond. I have never had this before. Could be age related?

Anyway, the cream is working, it never got smelly, just a little itchy that is how I even noticed it. It is much less red today, kinda pink only. and not itchy at all. Funny the problems that pop up.

Thanks for the answers all!

Like Tracy suggested, i to would use a bit of alcohol on it daily until the redness goes away. . . could be contact dermatitis. . . if it doesn't go away with the alcohol and antibiotic ointment, i'd contact the doctor. . good luck

I used to get that (or something similar... )- I would clean it out with e cotton bud and alcohol, then use a special powder I got from the pharmacy on it...they told me not to use cream as you want it to dry out rather than be wet, which can cause more redness....

It healed up really quick and is fine now, no more problems at all.
