It is so important to keep moving, you will heal so much faster. I just re-read your posts, you are a revision so yes you know what you are doing!! Just keep moving and you will be fine! Kai 0 Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) No revision for me... this sleeve is my first WLS! Today, Day 2, was a little rougher than yesterday but not too bad at all. I had crazy nausea & dry heaves, only to find out it was due to my IV not working properly. Once they changed the site & after a little rest I was good to go! I'm peeing normal (yay for me, but maybe TMI for some!) and just had a shower & put my own pjs on... feels much better! Drinking the blue apple juice wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it just seemed like a lot of liquid all at once for the first time... but no leaks, so it was all worth it. I'm now sipping normal apple juice & tea. It's a different feeling to get used to, but I'm hoping that'll change quick. The staff have been amazing. I've never had a medical team that explained their processes so much or checked in on me so often. I'm glad to have read so many positive reports on Dr Aceves, as this experience has been nothing short of positive so far. Glad to be on the other side, hope it just gets easier from here! FabBy50 0 Posted January 13, 2010 Kai Not quite sure why I thought this was a revision for you, well that is great you will heal faster with just the sleeve being done!! Yes day 2 is the worst, just know that everyday after that will be just a little better. Make sure you walk as much as possible, it helps with the gas and helps you heal faster. Sorry about the dry heaves, I bet that was no fun! Drinking that blue stuff was horrible, but it is always great to know that the sleeve is working properly and not leaking. So many Dr's do 3-4 tests I think that is great. Especially for us who have been to Mexico, I don't want to get home and have a leak. You will find that even sipping for the first few days will make you feel very full, this is the same feeling you will get when you start eating. It is great because you know right away when to stop eating. So glad to hear you have an amazing medical staff, that makes all of this so much easier. I have to say surgery in Mexico is different, but in a good way!! The nurses are much more attentive than here in the states. Glad to see you are doing so well, and remember everyday you will feel better and better!! Good luck.
Kai 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks Bernadette. Day 3, as everyone says, was much better than yesterday! I have to say the only real bothersome thing I keep getting is chest pain after I have something to drink and sometimes at random times. I'm not sure if it's just the gas releasing or if it's me sipping too quick/too much... regardless if that's the most of my discomfort I'll take it! The stuff I had to drink to watch the Fluid go through my stomach was the worst tasting thing EVER... it took everything in me to just get those 3 gulps down & keep them there. But all is well now, they said my recovery is going great & I am headed back home tomorrow... where the real journey begins!
FabBy50 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Kai Yes day 3 is much beter, day 2 on every surgery I have had was the worst!! Your chest pain is probably just gas, do you have Gas-X? If you do, try one when the pain hits. I had chest and shoulder pain when the gas would hit. Oh that awful stuff they make you drink.....I actually gagged trying to get it down, it made me so full. The taste is soo awful, well it is behind you now. So you are heading home tomorrow? Wow time goes by fast when it is not you having the surgery! Are you flying or driving? My flight home was not bad at all, I grabbed a good book and read the whole way! Good luck, and happy losing!! Duh!!! I just looked at where you are from, I take it you won't be driving!!
