I've lost 37 pounds 1 and a half months

Wow I'm so excited I just can't tell you how much I wish I had done this years ago. Nov.16th 2009 I had my Gastric sleeve done at Emanuel Jerusalem Hospital in Mexico. Dr Almanza performed the surgery and Dr Betancourt saw everything before and afterwards was in order. Here it is Jan.8th 2010 and I've lost 37 pounds and I feel wonderful and this includes all of the holidays and being surrounded with food. But I know when enough is enough. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me Dr Betancourt and your team are amazing.

CONGRATS on your weight loss!!! That is so exciting to see the scale move so quickly! I have had Dr Almanza twice now and they are the best!! I love the way Dr Betancourt takes such good care of you!! I'm 11 days out from my revision and have lost 12lbs! Such an exciting time, I can actually see myself reaching goal now. When I had the band I did not think I would reach goal, in fact I added 10lbs to my goal after the sleeve. It is so much easier, no having to "work" with your food!

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Congratulations on the amazing weight loss! Dr. Almanza sleeved me on me on January 5th. When I went to Mexico, I had planned to get a lap band, but once I was there Dr. Betancourt advised that a sleeve would be a better choice for me. He spent an hour with me explaining the pros and cons of each procedure. I am loving the sleeve, so I will be forever grateful for Dr. Betancourt!!!!

I so wish that even 10 months ago they would have pushed more for the sleeve, I had the band and then had to do a revision. The sleeve is nothing short of a miracle, you eat thats it!!. Well what I'm trying to say is that you eat a small amount of food and you are satisfied, no hunger pains. I never feel hungry I eat because I know I need to!

I also had Dr Almanza for both surgeries and think he is amazing! Dr Betancourt is awesome too!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
