Hugs! I had a rough start too. It does get better. I thought, hey, I have a super high pain tolerance, etc, I will breeze through this. I was quite wrong. It really does get better and easier everyday. Hang in there =) and safe travels home!!

I was really sore, but if you keep a pillow with you and hang onto it around your tummy it helps, take you pain meds too. . . my pain started to feel better on the 3rd day so you'll be ok. . . hugs and hope it goes ok. . . remember to sip, sip, sip, and the more you walk, the better it'll get. . i promise. . .

Hey there! I had surgery on Monday & mine was quite the same. Since you're in the hospital, they should be able to give you some nausea medicine through your IV line, or at least they did for me. Also, ask your surgeon if he could prescribe some nausea meds for when you go home if it doesn't go away. I was fine in the hospital but then had dry heaves last night here at home. But Dr. prescribed 2 nausea meds today & it really made a difference. Hang in there! And like thin said, walk as much as you can!

I had that -- all day the 2nd day. Terrible, I am so sorry. I rebounded fast on the 3rd day, as most people do!

Everytime you dry heave or vomit, just hit the button and ask for meds. That's what I did. Turns out, however, that my IV line was messed up for a while so they weren't getting in my vein like they needed to!

I was going to say Day 3 is so much better than Day 2, but you are already on Day 3 and seeing it for yourself. I didn't have to drink the leak test dye until day 3, I would have told them where they could stick the blue dye if they had wanted me to drink it on day 2.

I hear you wingrider. They came in and lined 4 of those medicine cups of blue dye for me to drink on the second day and I dry heaved! I only got 1 down, it was not happening. I was good to get ice chips down. More meds!! I think I was so terribly bloated, nothing moving. That's where the walking helped.

Megan I am so glad you are feeling better!

You all are really scaring me!!!!!

I'm only 6 days out, and I can already say "IT IS SO WORTH IT!" Yes I was nauseous (I didn't have it too bad compared to some) and was in pain a few times but...:001_smile: I'm already feeling much better and just thinking about the fact that in the coming months I'm going to become so much healthier and have so much more energy makes it all worth it. I figure...had I not gotten sleeved, I risked diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks just a few years down the road (and I'm 21 years old!). So the 4 days or so of pain I had to deal with is a teeny tiny price to pay. Really, don't let it make you think twice because the only regret you could have is NOT having the sleeve. As long as you have a good surgeon who you trust, I say go for it! :001_tongue: I'm really only saying all this because I felt the same way just a week ago, especially the night before & morning of surgery, but it is SO much nicer on the other side! :w00t:

I had mine on Friday 1p. I wasn't really in pain but I kept getting pain meds, IV Dilaudid then came the nausea and dry heaves. They kept moving forward on the discharge but I had a 2 hour drive and was sick as a %##$ dog!! My husband figured it out. I asked for IV Zofran (used for nausea in chemo pt) I felt 100% better and have taken NO pain meds since! I refused to leave the hospital until I felt better. You can crush Zofran tablets and it comes in an Elixir but the elixir wasn't covered by my insurance.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
