LAN2k 18 Posted January 4, 2010 3+ months post op and once again I am having trouble eating! I don't wake up hungry at all but manage to get in about 4oz of cream of wheat, I add Protein Powder to it. After that I'm basically full for the day and NOTHING appeals to me. I've lost my taste for all sweets even fruit. I don't know if it's because I just starting taking a new antidepressant drug Zoloft? I am really depressed and the lack of appeal for food has me worried. Any insights are appreciated.
cajun 46 Posted January 4, 2010 Lan2k, Yep, zoloft can cause loss of appetite in some. You've just got to eat by the clock instead of by hunger. After your body adjusts to it that loss of appetite may go away so don't give up on it!
Chancie 65 Posted January 4, 2010 Lan2k- I;m almost 11 months out and I have the same issues. I DO NOT have hunger, and sometimes just hate the thought of cooking because I will think it's what I want, then doesn't taste right to me. I hate wasting food... so sometimes I will just open a can of tuna I also found some salmon that you mix like tuna and eat some of that thruout the day... But I'm not making it a big deal... because I know that I'm gonna eat SOMETHING.... I did the same thing Friday that I said I wasn't gonna do anymore... I went to get chinese take out... and......... couldn't eat a bite! grrrrrrr....... wasted money! I took it home.. but I just couldn't eat it. Like Cajun said... eat by the clock... not your hunger. You're goin on 3 months... have you had your blood work done? See how those #'s are and what your doctor thinks.... if they are fine... then don't worry! Let us know....... cajun 46 Posted January 4, 2010 I think she posted that her blood work was normal. So I agree with you, Chancie. No worry as long as it is normal. Just eat by the clock.
carolyn24seven 11 Posted January 4, 2010 Lan2K I am so sorry you are having these issues again. You have really been thru it. Are you taking your vits? If your lab work is ok I guess eating by the clock is a good thing. My husband is on anti depressants and they had to change them recently, now that I am aware of this I can understand his lack of appitite. I did not know these drugs could do this. (He does not need to loose any weight) Thanks for posting, you helped me, wish I could help you!
