steamed broccoli with cheese. Spinach...

You know I found TONS of good recipes on Bariatric Eating. com

and have made 2 different kind of the quiche's and then made spinach dip yesterday and ate it with cheese "crackers".

They are just crackers made of cheese and that's it. So less than 1 carb and tons of protein!

I grated some parmesan, asiago, and romano cheese and then put a small amount (like as if I was making cookies) onto parchment paper on a baking sheet and put them in the oven for 6 min or so at 350 degrees. Good alone or with dip. DELICIOUS!

Really, I have been eating such small amounts, I rarely have a "side", but fill up on the fish or turkey roll or ground turkey, then I will snack on cheeses or veggies another time....

Mashed up cauliflower is good. cook it and mash it up and you can put cream cheese on it or sour cream or just butter or I use some healthy

margarine. Sorry but the name escapes me at the moment and I am out of it.

Tilapia is a really good fish and doesn't have a fishy taste at all - it's a white fish. We either squeeze lemon or lime on top with a little lemon pepper, then put slices on top, wrap it in foil and grill it - only takes about 6 minutes or so.

Also, I spray Pam Olive Oil in a skillet, sprinkle with lemon pepper and cook it - about 3 minutes per side - then serve with veggies.

I loved grilled salmon, too. Sam's Club has some frozen salmon that is blackened, indivdiually frozen, and is very tasty.

My favorite fish is swai. It's available at Kroger's in individual ( 4 oz ) servings for about $1. I prepare it a number of different ways. I've coated it with an egg wash, whole wheat panko and parmesan cheese and fried it in the skillet. I've coated it with egg white and a light dusting of flour and cornmeal and fried it in the skillet. I've spread it with a teaspoon or so of Dijonaisse and baked or broiled it in my toaster oven. It has a very mild taste and is a perfect fish for someone that doesn't really like fish and is trying to add it to their diet.

I'd never heard of this fish before, so I looked it up. Sounds delish! Here's something from Consumer Reports about it. How cool! Thanks for sharing, I would never have known. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
