What a difference a day makes!

Recommended Posts

WOW. I feel so, so SOOOO, much better today. Got up this morning and was rearing to go! (I still could burp or toot a sailor under the table, but could laugh about it today!) Yesterday, it was hard to see the roses, so much better today! I went to bed about 7 and I think the rest was a gift. I guess after all the abdominal anesthetic and the better pain-killers from the hospital dissipate, the real "ouch" sets in. I am glad I stayed in Dallas for those couple of days. I stopped every 45 mins. on the drive home today and am now ready for a nap. I look about 3 months prego today. Thanks for all of your support through the rough time. I did it! YEAH! What a great start for 2010!

BarbAnne,

glad you're on the mend. I had a day like that too....My surgery was on a Monday and on Thursday I was very emotional, feeling dizzy, achey and just overwhelmed. I got discharged from the hospital and went to the hotel and basically hibernated for 23 hours. What a difference! I felt strong enough the next day to handle my flight home to Chicago and even went to a meeting the next day. I couldn't have done it without my "fall apart" day.

Keep on mending!

Barbann, glad you made it home safe and sound. It was wise to take it slow. Every day will get better now, with a few bumps in the road here and there. Lean on your friends here and we'll help as much as we can.

HI I am a newbie. I was sleeve on 12/29 and discharged on 12/30 no drain, etc. First day (12/29) was horrible, due to paralyzing nausea. After going through 2 rounds of 3 different nausea meds and a nausea patch I woke up on the next take ready to get started.

Each day I wake up better than the day before. First day home (12/30) barely got in Water and no Protein, only Jello. Day 2 at home 12/31, I got in about 20oz Water, and some pureed Protein. Today, Day 3 I have gotten in about 40GMs protein 30oz water/fluids. Wounds feel better each day to, I am able to sleep on my stomach only taking extra-strength tylenol.

Walking has been the easiest thing through this all. Frigid cold spell so not able to walk outside, but walking the hell out of the house. Feel up to going out tomorrow, maybe to gym to just walk slowly, but for a longer time.

Thanks for listening(reading)

Chi-Chic,

Wow, I have only had two bouts where I actually threw-up, lots of feeling like I "need to," but I am so sorry you are having such a struggle. I try and tell my mind when I am on the verge of urping, "You just worked for 2 hours to drink that Protein so your body can heal, DO NOT THROW UP!" I also burp - A LOT. It seems like if I can get the pressure to subside, it reduces the urge to throw up. However, if anything comes up with the burp, then I lose my Cookies. Sorry to be so graphic, but only on this site do we share these intimate details, right?I hope you are feeling better today! I am wondering if I will ever poo?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
