Protein Pancakes...

Recommended Posts

Well for New Year's Day Breakfast, I made pancakes for the family. I haven't done that in a really long time (July). Anyway, I received a sample of WonderSlim Protein HotCakes and thought I would give them a try - a treat for me. I made them as directed with Water and added 1/2 serving of diced "no sugar added" peaches and served with SF pancake Syrup. Yummers! Now, I think too many carbs for a daily breakfast, but a nice substitute as a treat. (one package makes 2-3 pancakes - 120 cal, carb 19g, sugars 2g, Fiber 5g, protein 12g). FYI - I couldn't eat them all - I only ate 2/3 of it and am now STUFFED. Uggghh!

I make John, Caysen and Hank (the basset hound) pancakes at least once a week. I'm not sure how I manage to not eat them because I used to love pancakes, but now they seem so "heavy" to me.

Thanks for the review on these.

Okay - they might be a bit heavy. My tummy hasn't felt very well since I ate. I'm not sure if it was too early to eat (I usually don't eat anything but "protein coffee" in the morning), just too heavy/rich food for morning, or the actual product disagreed with me. I kind of feel "hung over" in my tummy, a little nausea, like a drank too much last night. But I didn't feel that way before I ate. I only had one drink last night, so I'm certain its not that, but it is how I feel. We ate pretty non-diet friendly food last night, albeit not much for me. Might also be that, in combination with the heavy breakfast. I took a protonix this morning, I rarely do anymore. I hope that it helps. But back to the pancakes - they sure tasted good. I will have to try them again sometime but without all the New Year's Eve stuff the night before.

I hope you feel better soon.

I kind of have that hungover feeling this morning, but with good cause. I had 3 glasses of wine last night spread out over 5 hours.

I have a basset hound too! His name is Dudley. And, to stay on topic, I am excited to try some of the ricotta pancake recipes on eggface's blog. I'm trying to rid my house of all the crazy stuff I bought as I nested and prepared for my full liquid phase, but then I'm gonna try to make some. I'm not a huge sweet tooth, but sounded good, and I made her ricotta zucchini pancakes, and they were great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
