Pounds are coming off, Things are going well !!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I just went back for my first post op visit to my Dr. and to my suprize I'd lost 19 lbs, and now that number is 23 lbs. I'm finally moving along and doing well. I'm back at work, things are good there, although I do have a cold. I feel good, and I'm getting plenty of Protein and liquids.< /p>

Exercise have been difficult because of the cold rainy weather. But I'll soon be back on the walking path. I'm having Protein Bars, and found some orgainic yogurt with 15 gms of portein also. I've not bought any clothes yet. I"m waiting for more weight to come off before I do. Only 12 more lbs and I'll be in WONDERLAND.....OMG...that's unbelievable to me...

I've not been under 200 lbs in 20 years. The sleeve is the BOMB!!!:scared0:

Woohoo Judy! So glad to read about your great successes. Keep it up and like you said you'll be in onederland and then on to your next goals! If you're really getting the urge to shop, you can always buy a goal (not necessarily your end goal, maybe the next size down) dress, skirt, or pair of pants. I wish you luck with the next 12 lbs and can't wait to Celebrate with you!

Hello JudyJudyJudy,

You are doing so good, I am so happy for you. You had your surgery the day before me and we were almost at the same weight. I was 232 the night before surgery and it looks like you were at 235. Now you are only 12 pounds away from being back in the one hundreds. I have 15 more pounds to lose to be in the one hundreds. I recently had to go into the hospital the morning of Dec.24 and got out on Christmas Day. I found out that I have a hematoma on my spleen. When I came out of the hospital I weighed 3 more pounds than I did before I went in. I was hoping it was because they put all those fluids into my IV. I made a trip out of state and just got back late last night. I got up this morning and weighed myself and I couldn't believe it, I only weighed 214.4, I had lost 5 pounds while I was gone those 4 days. I hope I am back on track. I had a stall with weight gain and even though I have read that it happens, it is still discouraging. Now my hope has been restored, especially after reading your post. It is so good to read what others are going through and to know that we are not alone. The concern, support and prayers from all the sleevers really help me alot on my journey. I am anxious to see some pictures of you soon, you are very beautiful on your profile picture. Good luck on reaching your goal!!

Hey there Dawn, and welcome.

Your surgeon should of given you a post-op diet regimen, and it's advised to stick to that and progress only when you are supposed to do so.

As for weight loss, every person is different. There are many factors that contribute to initial weight loss i.e. your starting weight (people with higher BMIs typically lose faster, men lose faster, lower BMI patients may lose it a little slower), what type of post-op diet your surgeon has you on, how much you start walking, and light working out you do early on will all help decide how much weight you will lose. Every person is different so try to not compare yourself to others.

Good food happens when you can tolerate it. I was on 2 weeks of clears, a week of full liquid then progressed to mushies. I stayed on mushies for nearly a month, and only incorporated solids once a week or so after that, and even then I went back to mushies a few times.

Early on, you may experience some fatigue because of the lack of calories you are consuming. But, as your post-op diet progresses, your energy level will bounce back.

There is an entire forum dedicated to Post-op questions and concerns. You may find other answers here at these links. Feel free to post any questions or concerns you may have, or you can scroll through the threads, and read any that may pique your interest.

Dawn -

Welcome to VST and congratulations on your recent surgery. First off, follow your surgeons instructions especially these first 6 weeks. Let your knew little tummy heal properly. Don't worry about what you can't eat right now, it's not forever. It's not that you can't have it, you just can't have it now. Just 6-8 weeks. You will again be able to eat things you shouldn't occasionally, but your sleeve will help control how much. Walk - get in some exercise and get the blood moving. Sip - stay hydrated. Weight loss rate depends on how much you have to lose. I lost a little every day until the 3 week stall. Then during week 4, weight loss started up again. I seem to lose weight in a stair step pattern (if you plot on a graph), nothing for several days/week than a bunch of pounds over a couple of days, then nothing for several days, etc. You can browse through the forum and see different people's tickers and see their weight loss progression. Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask questions. I have found incredibly supportive and knowledgeable people here - we are all in this together.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
