In California, we can research doctors through the State Board of Medical Licensure. It will tell you if there are any pending lawsuits, settlements, or adverse actions against a doctor. Maybe Texas has the same. It's a great way to research your doctor.

Yes - you can do the same thing here in TX thru the Texas Medical Board Website.

I was just wondering which Dr - I live in the area and may have heard of the doctor specifically but don't recognize the clinic name.

They have several affiliating doctors. You can go to http://www.tlcedgesurgicalweightloss.com/ and click on affiliated surgeons and they show their names & pics. Here's a list of names that they have on there.

Dr. Jayaseelan

Dr. Gonzalez

Dr. Carter

Dr. Stewart

Dr. Castro

Dr. Veninga

Dr. Henderson

Dr. Hamn

Dr. Cribbins

I get to pick my surgeon and I'm not sure which one I should pick. I've researched most of them and they all seem to have good experience. I just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything good or bad about any of the surgeons.

Thanks again.

Did you ever pick a surgeon? I am looking into TLC Edge also and am wondering about that myself. I live in Corpus Christi so there is no one around here to ask.

I used Dr. Jayaseelan & LOVED him so much. He was awesome. The facility at TLC was the best. We could not have had better service with them. I'm glad I choose them. My mom stayed the night with me in the hospital and they treated her like a queen. The nurses fed her dinner that they had brought from their house and got her Diet Cokes because she forgot the ones she had at the hotel. I can't brag enough on them.

Dr. Jay is so laid back. He usually likes to see you a week before your surgery but he let me see him on Wednesday and have my surgery Thursday. He's awesome!! Check him out!!

Good luck & let me know what you decide.

Marci - I think I am using Jayaseelan and TLC edge this June. How long did you stay at the surgery center? I was told 23 hours. Did that seem sufficient to you? Did the doc do a leak test the AM following surgery?

Thanks! I am excited but nervous. I have not met him yet, but from everything I have heard he is a great doc.

Nicole

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
