Does anyone going to See Dr. Aceves know if there are any stores within walking distance from the hospital?

I am here in El Centro California just waiting for the pickup on Sunday. Can't believe that it is almost time. I have completed my shopping except for those Protein samples that everyone is talking about. Will do that the day I leave the hospital. It should only take a couple of days to come. Looking forward to meeting everyone see you soon...........Teri

If I am remembering correctly, there is a drugstore/pharmacia close by, and some other places.

I only recall 2 drug stores - one right on the edge of the Hospital parking lot and one across the street from the hospital - I don't recall any other stores within walking distance from the hospital; however, if you ask Dr. Campose or Dr. Aceves, they can tell you for certain.

Beth, This is what I read on another thread:

1) For the first 10 days following surgery, nothing other than Clear liquids and a Protein supplement should be consumed. ABSOLUTELY no solid food!!! Clear Liquids consist of Jell-O, sugar-free Crystal light, Water, and broth. A high quality Protein supplement such as Isopure or whey protein should be used in order to obtain approximately 70 grams of protein per day."

But seems I read something different elsewhere, I'm gonna look. I remember reading something about day 1 through 5 being something, and then you could ad stuff after that.

Ok thanks! Thanks what I thought, I started drinking my Protein Shakes today to get used to them...I haven't had any in over a year, gosh I remember now how much I hated them when I had my lap band. I think i need to find a new brand, or maybe mix it up so I am not drinking the same one every day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
