4re4me 1 Posted December 20, 2009 Hey All, Looks like you have a great group here. I have been clicking the mouse all over this site. I have had a lap band for 30 months. 5'11" male 50 years old. I went deom 325 to 270 the first year and have not had much use of the band since. It slipped after the first year. We unfilled, waited for it to unslip (it did) and then slowly refilled. It was a year before I got more restriction and picked up 20 pounds in the meantime. I have since lost the 20 again with the refill but now I have another slip and the band has to go. I am thinking VSG and being older and wiser I thought I would look at the groups that had the procedure done a few years ago and see how they are holding up. After all most everyone including me loved the band until time took its toll. If anyone out there has a few years experience with the VSG would you mind sharing your present feelings on it? Chancie 65 Posted December 20, 2009 Just thought I'd pop in here say hello and welcome to the boards. I'm a 50 year oold female thats had the VSG for 10 months now.... still new to it. Never had the band, and all I can tell you is I think the VSG is absoutly WONDERFUL!! My starting weight was 354 I am now 196 a loss of 158 pounds in 10 months!!! There are several here that went from bnd to VSG and am sure they will be around to tell you the same... Do your research, and i hope you come to a decision that right for you. G'luck to you! Misspeesh 0 Posted January 24, 2010 I am in your shoes too. Complications with the band choosing to remove and go with the sleeve. Looking for people's experiences both good and bad with making this move.
Josephine 1 Posted January 24, 2010 I'm band to sleeve, 15 weeks out and 77 lbs down! It's a miracle!
