I am still pre-op but I have finished my Kaiser Options Classes. As of 12/17/2009 I have lost 44.6 pounds with my classes, and I still waiting on my date.

I would like to still drop 23.4 pounds before surgery its my personal goal to be only 100 pounds away from my final goal before surgery. If I make it I will be thrilled, if I dont well I tried darn hard!!! LOL

I am hoping for a surgery soon, but I figure I have waited this long whats a few more months right? (HA!)

Congratulations Katrina, you're off to a great start without surgery...developing those good eating habits will help you so much once you are sleeved.

Thanks Deedee, wow 8.5 to go girl keep it up.

I am really looking forward to surgery most cause I am not fearful of surgery I have had more then one before.

I thought I would start the party a little early and I bought the cutest pair of shorts. In a size 16 I figure I will be there by the summer comes around. Im roughly a 22/24 in some cuts and a 26/28 in others but I plan to wear those cute shorts THIS summer.

You WILL definitely be in those cute 16's this summer. I was wearing a 22/24 before my pre-op diet this last July and am now in an 8/10, but I do like to wear my clothes, especially bottoms, pretty snug.

I bought a size 10, super cute dress a couple months ago and fit into it last month. Just tried it on today and it is loose, but still fits...I'm really hoping that another 8 or so pounds I have to lose for my goal won't make it too loose because I paid good money and want to wear it this spring/summer so badly.

Ooh I hope so...

I had been wishing for a new years eve surgery. I thought it would be neat to start over on years day with a sleeve. Heres to hoping!

How loose is this dress of yours, I mean 8 pounds could be a big change in how it hangs, and not only you will lose some inches also.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get it for the new year, but the great thing is that you know it will happen.

It's a strapless dress and I seem to be losing the last of my weight in the boob area, that's why I'm afraid it might get too lose. Luckily I left the tag on, and bought it for 60% off, but still super expensive, but maybe I can take it to a consignment shop if the top won't stay up;-)

DeeDee,

You could have it altered to fit for not much cost.

I've "taken up" some of my scrubs, and (TMI my underpants which were falling off...) If you can sew, some alterations are quite easy. Others...well, get to know a good seamstress for the dresses and clothes that you love. Great job working your sleeve!

Or just have the bust area taken in by a seamstress. I mean if its stunning and you love it, why not just remove some extra fabric?

Bring in the bust and waist.

Wow, great job on the weight loss during Options! I lost 30 lbs during the classes which I finished in early Oct. and I just finally met with my surgeon today and got a date...Jan 26!

I cant believe how long this has taken to get to this point (since Feb). Where are you having your surgery? I'll be at Kaiser Harbor City. I could've had it done already if I'd gone to the West Los Angeles location, but I wanted to wait for Dr. Zane. He's done over 500 sleeves and is head of the Kaiser bariatric program I believe.

Hope you get your consult appt. soon...good luck and keep us posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
