I've been sleeved!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 12/11. I had extremely severe nausea/vomiting in post-anethesia and throughout the first 24hrs post-op. I was given IV meds but nothing helped. There was very little pain, just soreness over 2 of my 5 incision sites. I got through my leak test, keeping the contrast down just long enough for the test to be done before puking that up. Then I willed myself to take a few spoonfulls of both, Jello, and crystal light so that I could go home. By yesterday morning I felt 100% better. Full of gas, somewhat nauseous, a little sore but so much better.

The only appealing food to me has been popsicles. Today I plan to make an honest attempt to get some Isopure in. Other than that, I'm sip sip sipping Water.< /p>

I was excited to get home from the hospital and see I had lost 7 pounds already!! Woohoo!

Great job Kelly! I threw up the stuff they had me drink for the leak test and it set me back like a half a day. I'm glad you're home and feeling better. Walking really seemed to help for the gas relief. Good luck!

Kelly, glad to hear you are sleeved and doing well. I had the severe nausea as well. They kept telling me to get up and and walk, and every time I did, I ended up vomiting. It wasn't pleasant, but it did pass. Continue to keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thank you all for your support! I am feeling great now 4 days post-op. I got out of the house yesterday and today which felt great. My post-op appointment with the surgeon is tomorrow so I'm anxious for the weigh in and hoping to get the OK for full liquids. Feeling a little anxious about having the desire to eat more than liquids. It's not like I want a huge sandwich, but just a few bites of mushed turkey meatballs or some cottage cheese sounds delicious. Should I be concerned about feeling this way, or does it just mean I'm healing well?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
