Well I'm gonna get "flamed" for this response, go ahead, I'm prepared.

Judy,

Lets be truthful here. You've been "cheating" on the post op diet since like...day two. You talked/bragged to me about it in the chat room and realized I would not congratulate you on your choices and left. If you're not willing to follow the post op diet that your doctor recommended...don't bitch about not losing weight! There's no cause for alarm...you're simply not following the plan. You're leapfrogging ahead and then not happy because your plan isn't working.

This forum is for support....not enabling someone to risk their health and patting them on the back and saying "do better tomorrow". Get real with yourself, return to basics, meaning....follow the post op diet and you'll lose the weight. It's boring, it's monotonous, you'll have cravings, you have to activate some self-control...but just do it.

Perhaps now you'll see that the DOCTOR recommended post-op diet is effective for reasons more than just the healing process! It's where that first truly impressive weight loss happens.

I truly am sorry to be harsh. If you were following your doctor's orders I would be the first to research everything I could to help you find the key to a "stall". But you can't expect to break all the rules and still lose weight like the ones that follow the rules. Consequences follow actions....you're not losing weight because you chose the wrong actions.

I'd like to be encouraging at this point, but I'm sure I've already made you mad by speaking the truth. However, I do think you can resume a steady weight loss by returning to the post op diet FROM THE BEGINNING, which will help ease the carb cravings, detoxify your system and get you started back to success.

Well said Tracy. I agree 100%. Judy, you can do this. You were given a tool to help you, the rest is up to you. It's hard and no one said it would be easy. We are here to support you when times are bad but you still have to take responsibility for your own actions.

NO darlin' not 12 days, I'm 18 days out, I'm close to the end of my third week.

Your original post said you were 12 days out and eating a ton of food.

Hi Judy,

We're all here because we ran into trouble with food in the first place. If we were great at following plans in the long term, we might not be here. I've been a compulsive eater for 50 years. When I walked into my surgeon's appointment the first time, he asked why I wanted the surgery. I told him that 50 years of dieting was enough time and I was done with it.

I have a lot of compassion for you right now. I guess I'd just like to ask what we can do to help you get over this rough patch. I think that everyone wants you to be healthy and successful with your Sleeve. How can we help? Can you give us an idea of the plan that your doctor sent you home with? My doctor stresses three meals a day with Water in between, for life. I know every doctor is different.

This is all going to work out in the long run!

I just read, and re-read your posts. I know you're not eating all that at once, but it sounds like you might be grazing. Eating what you can tolerate but eating too often. Try to stick to three meals, and two Snacks daily, low to no carbs until the stall passes, then keep the carbs less than 30mg daily. Stalls are normal and very frustrating. But they will pass. You need to follow the rules...even though you miss the flavors you once loved. Remember VSG is just a tool, not used correctly and you can gain weight. Keep your chin up, remember why you did this in the first place, and keep posting here for motivation. You can do it!

The one thing I have to agree on.... the first part of this surgury is called the "honeymoon" stage...... it doesn't last forever and it is the BEST time to take advantge of the"Sleeve".

12 days- 18 days or 60 days............. YOU should be WORKING the sleeve.

Make the right food choices, and remember WHY you had this surgery in the first place.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
