Well the hole was not healing the way the doctors wanted it to, so I had to have gastric bypass. I am so upset, I did not want this at all. I did not want to have to worry about malnutrition. I am thankful the TPN is gone, the drain is gone. I jsut feel like the whole direction of my life has gone wrong. I have to worry about everthing I put in my mouth, I understand with all of these surgeries you have to do that, but this is the worst. I do not want my hair to fall out, right now I do not even want to eat, and the doctor said I can have Soup and creamy stuff. My husband wants me to eat, he is worried. I do not know what to do!!!

I was just thinking about you last night wondering how you were doing and asking God to be with you. I know that this whole life changing ordeal must be taking its toll on you emotionally. I am a very sensitive person emotionally and physically and at 3 months out I am still having a hard time accepting my decision to have done this in spite of lost weight. It is such a dramatic change and although many others are very happy and have adapted well I am not one of them. That said I have a friend who had (her choice) the gastric bypass. She had some serious complications for the first few months (bleeding ulcers). She is about a year out now and she looks like she never had a weight problem...she eats almost anything she desires, and she's genuinely happy. They say time heals everything, so give yourself that time and if you can connect to a support group where you meet people live. I truly sympathize with what you are going through but you must move forward and learn to accept what has happened, one day at a time. If you ever want to talk please pm me and I'll give you my number. Your not alone there are many people here who really care about you, so hang on and try to focus on the love and goodness in your life. You will see yourself through this and come out better than okay. There may come a time in the future where you will be able to help another person who had to undergo a sleeve to bypass revision.

My heart just absolutely breaks for you. I could never find any decent documentation on the stent repair for leaks. My leak was repaired by suturing the tissue together, and then I was NPO for 3 weeks. I really don't know what to say other than " I'm here for you" and I hate to hear that you're having to endure all of this.

My prayers and thoughts are with you.

That's the pits, HeftyNetty. What a long road you have had. I hope things will bet better real soon. Is there a special forum of folks who have had the same surgery that you can also talk with? I imagine that there is...they would probably be a lot of help, and we can be a cheering squad for you in general. We are all pulling for you.

:confused:Sounds like you are having grief reactions to all the trauma you have been through with this. That is a sign that you are mentally healthy. Be kind and gentle with yourself. I will send healing energy your way in my daily mindfulness meditations. (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))

I share your pain. I wanted the sleeve so bad and did all my research for it, but insurance wouldn't pay. I sold myself out to RNY because I was tired of fighting. Anyway, I am almost 4 weeks out. I am struggling on getting in my Protein, but it is getting easier as time goes on.

I have information from my dietician for weeks 1 - 7 that I would be happy to share with you. Please PM me if you are interested.

As for your hair falling out, it's probably a 50/50 chance we all face. It appears that it can happen to Sleevers too. There was a good thread about this a week ago that you can search on. For now, focus on getting yourself healed and nourished.

Hugs,

JoAnne

I am doing better, I am sore from the scar, so it is still a little hard to get around. The eating thing is hard to get use to, Protein Drinks I just do not get enough in. I do have a book my surgeon gave me as far as eating for the first 4 weeks, I suppose I should pull it out and follow it. I want to thank all of you so much for the support, I love coming on here and reading all the comments, it really does encourage me to keep going. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Hello Heftynetty, I am so glad to hear that you are doing better. I am really having a hard time post-op with the Milkshakes. Before surgery I was drinking 4 over a 24 hour period, but now I have a hard time getting 1 down in 24 hours. I finally got a liquid Protein down after not having one for 2-3 days. It was really difficult, I wish I could say the same thing about some of the things I have been eating. I am almost 3 weeks out and I can eat alot of different foods but I am trying not to eat alot of them. I am sure I am getting at least 3-5 ounces down in about 45 minutes-1 hour. The only thing that I make sure that I do is to eat slowly and chew, chew and chew some more before I try to swallow. If I swallow too fast or don't chew enough, I can tell real quick. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year

Netty! I was thinking about you this morning. Wondering how you were doing.

I feel so bad for you. You keep going forward though and with minimal complaining and whining I might add. You are so strong. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing.

Janette, sorry you had to go through the ordeal, but sounds like you are on the mend now! You will do fine with the RNY GB. I have several friends that had them and all are doing super, and I know you will too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
