Hi all

I haven't been posting much on here, but I read the board daily.

Everyone is doing so well, I didn't want to scare the newbies.

I'm struggling. I only lose weight when I eat around 400 cal/day.

I can do this because the sleeve keeps me from getting hungry, BUT

I'm very worried that this isn't anywhere near enough food for

proper nutrition. I sure don't get to eat vegetables at that amount.

I feel way better if I eat 600..also if I have little Snacks during the

day (which Dr. A disapproves of.)

I'm not sure what my question is.. I guess, do I eat 400 and lose 1-2

lbs a week or 600 and not lose/gain? I'm behind everybody who

had surgery when I did, I think.

I'm sticking about 90% to the eating plan, not doing too well with

Water, taking Vitamins every day. You can see my daily plate

record, I'm CanuckPlantFan. (the bread this last week was

actually home-made south African traditional bread made by

a coworker, I had a 2" square)

Anyone got some good advice?

Ivy

well, I am not losing that fast too but what I learnt from our friends here, that 600-800 calories a day should be okay but try to focus on getting your Proteins and drinking your Water. they do help! do u walk? I think even 20 minutes a day walking will be great. I think we are all a bit impatient too. forget about the scale for a while.

How far are you from surgery? I am almost 6 weeks out. the weight was coming off really fast first 2 weeks then it is slowing down but I am losing.

best wishes Ivy and keep in touch. we are here to help each other.

Ivy, I hate to hear that you are struggling.

The snacking is probably causing some of this, in addition to lack of Water. Everyone is different so don't compare yourself with everyone else's loss results.

How are you doing with exercising? If you are not working out, I would recommend this to get your heart rate up, and burn some fat. If you incorporate working out, walking, cardio, you can up your calories, and you'll be able to see some results.

Hi Ivy - sorry to hear that you are struggling. I was just catching up on posts as I haven't read any for a while and one gal said that if she went below 600 cal/day then she didn't lose any weight. You might actually have to go up to 800 cal/day making sure to get your Protein in first and then at least 50 g carbs to kick your body out of its' starvation mode (it won't let you lose any lbs because it is in starvation mode). It might be hard to wrap your head around it but try it at least for a full week to see if you get any results. Good luck - I'll be thinking of you.

Ivy,

I find that if I don't get enough Water it slows down my weight loss, you may want to try upping that. I'm not sure how far out you are, but last week I did really bad with the snacking and found myself up and down 2 pounds all week long (2 different days I didn't actually eat meals, just grazed all day long). Can you meet with a nutritionist to go over things? I wish you luck! I'd too be concerned with having to eat so few calories especially if you don't feel 100% at that level.

Im 5 weeks post op tomorrow..the first 3 weeks the weight dropped off like crazy, Almost to fast.. Then it came to a screeching hault and I actually gained 2 lbs. I have just started loosing a bit again. I was told its normal and its just your body adjusting and also your body hates to give up the fat

How far out are you. It could just be a temporary stall. I had one for 3 weeks, but then it broke and the weight started coming off again. You can't survive on 400 calories so if it's only been a week or two I'd up the calories, up the exercise and ride the stall out.

Ivy, change your eating program. Go back to basics. get your walking in. Start at the beginning if you have to. Clears, Protein and lots of Water and walk 5 min at a time. Try something other than what you are doing. It is not working for you. I am so glad you are back with us, I missed you.

Ivy, my surgeon says all the body needs is Water, Protein, and Vitamins. I was told to eat as little as possible, as long as I am getting in 70-80 grams of protein and 64 oz of water. He would be thrilled if I could stay at 400. I think as long as you are doing this, probably your body is just adjusting. Have you ever watched The Biggest Loser, they all lose at a different rates, although they follow the same plan. It is frustrating, but don't compare yourself to anyone else. Perhaps calling your nutritionist might help.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
