6 month surgeriversary ! ! !

Recommended Posts

Well, yesterday marked my 6 month surgeriversary for my band to sleeve revision.

I have lost a total of 103 pounds as of June 3rd.

I have dropped from a size 22-24W to a regular 14 or 15 in juniors.

From a 26/28 (4X) blouse/shirt to a Medium blouse/shirt. Sometimes a large depending on the cut of the shirt.

My shoe size shrunk from a 8W to a normal 7-7.5

My legs (thighs mainly) no longer go numb after extensive time on my feet.

I can see all the bones in my feet, and ankles.

Above all of the physical changes, my outlook on life is even more positive, and upbeat. I no longer feel like the "fattest" person in the group. I can walk around the mall for hours, shopping, and just enjoying being out of the house without my knees hurting after 30 minutes. I no longer experience shortness of breath when I walk up stairs. I look in the mirror and see a completely different woman, inside and out. I still see flaws within my body, but I'll live with those flaws instead of the fat rolls.

There have been many ups and downs over the last 6 months, but I would gladly endure all of it again. I used to take each day for granted, but now, I cherish each and every day that God has blessed me with on this Earth.

For those of you pre-op, my best advice is to do your research, prepare yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. This surgery will change your life, not just your body or BMI.

For all of the post-ops, continue to ROCK your sleeve. Y'all have been my support system, and friends during this journey and without y'all I would seriously be lost.

For anyone struggling, get back to basics, lean on us, we're here for you, and we all believe that you can and will be successful.

Thank you all for taking this ride with me. It's been a wild ride for sure, but it's been totally worth it.

I am so HAPPY for you! You are such an amazing woman and deserve all the wonderful joys in life that you're experiencing now and will experience in the future. You were one of the first people here that reached out to me when I was having an off day and sincerely touched me with your kindness. I do not feel that my journey through this process would have been the same without your words of encouragement and support. THANK YOU TIFF for being you and congratulations on your transformation!

Tiffy - It's been so much fun to be on this ride with you -- and I don't even LIKE rollercoasters ... but with you, it's been a great ride and I'm happy we've gone through it all together. Even though we've never met in person (YET) I feel we've got a special bond!

You are an amazing woman - keep up the good work!

Thank you all soooooooooooooo much.

Susan - One day, I swear we're going to get out to LV, and John isn't going to be able to pry me away. Maybe, just maybe if we get stationed in Texas, we could make the trip up there since airfare is so much cheaper from TX than it is from here and our podunk airports.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
