I was so worried about not having the right sized liver and not have the surgery. I told my husband that I hoped I would know when I woke up if I had it. And boy did I. Was very soar the day of surgery from recovery and also today. I have had no problem with my two tablespoons of chicken broth or drinking my crystal light. I have been walking as much as possible and that helps a bunch. good luck to all of the other Nov sleevers. I am still excited about what I have done and know it will be great in a few weeks.

I hope you have a fast recovery. I am glad to hear that you are still glad that you had it done. I really want to be able to have my hope and dreams after I wake up from surgery on Dec.2. I am wondering about the outcome. I told my daughter that I have learned so much and I know that I need to know all the worst things that can happen, but I am still hoping and praying for the best. I wish you the best. Your comments have been an encouragement for me. Thank you!!

Mona - glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are progressing normally - keep walking and sipping and you'll feel better each day.

Thanks everyone. I just still seems like i am dreaming but with the pain in my stomach I know it is not a dream. I had some bleeding on one of my incisions. They allowed me to take the outside bandage off easily so I could clean around the incision. Probably did way to much walking and moving. It is horrible to get off the couch but can get up and down from my bed very easily. I feel really good today considering and started my Protein Drinks. I just sent my teenager to the store for some cream of wheat and baby food. Although I am no even hungry I know I have to sip and eat something. Thanks again for all the advice.

I agree with the warm herbal tea!! That was all I drank for a few days...Chamomile mostly.

Whatever you do, dont let yourself get dehydrated...I did and it just made matters worse. So keep sipping on something. Kudos to your for the broth...that made me want to kill myself AND whoever served it to me. I'm not even going to talk about the "beef broth incident" :)

Good luck! It only gets easier.

My manual says that days 2-14 I can have think pureed foods or baby foods. I ate a small bites of baby food not even an ounce and did fine. I see that there are many people on just full Clear Liquids after their surgery. Should I stick to clear liquids or can I have the baby foods even though it has more sugar than my adkins shakes?

Every doctor is different - Dr. Aceves has us on 10 days clear, 10 days full, 10 days mushies, then progress to normal food as tolerated. I would think the choice is up to you - to follow the post-surgery diet your doctor provided, or another one from another doctor- whatever you do, you definitely need to follow SOME post-op diet and slowly add in new foods as your stomach tolerates.

Found the greatest thing for tummy pain. If you are being sleeved soon are just sleeved. Go buy some of the thermacare back and hip heat wraps. They are soo awesome. They really help with the pain and you are not bothered with the cord of a heating pad. Wish I would have had it in the hospital.

Mona, that is a great idea, I never thought of using those! They are easier to pack as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
