Mushie food ideas?

Recommended Posts

Well, the moment has finally arrived! I've been moved up to mushies for the next month. Any ideas? I grabbed that ricotta recipe already. What about crab cakes?

Thanks guys

I would think crab cakes would be okay - IF they are very very moist. Also, cottage cheese is very high in Protein, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad are all good - the prepaid in the little cans is great as when I started out I couldn't even eat an entire little can (2 oz?) but it was good, moist, convenient and went down easily. The ricotta bake is DELICIOUS!

For those of you that like oatmeal or cream of wheat but tend to regret the high carb load with little Protein...here's a way to fix that up!

cook your oatmeal (I use long cooking Quaker Oats or McGann's Steel Cut)

For Cream of Wheat I use Arrowhead Mills Bear Mush (less processed than the regular cream of wheat).

when it's done cooking, remove from the heat and stir in a well beaten egg WHITE..(use the white only, it has the highest portion of Protein and the least amt of fat). The egg white will cook in the hot Cereal and make it nicely creamy.

Tastewise you will not know it's there but you've just added 3.5 grams of protein!

Great for people that can't tolerate eggs otherwise.

All of a sudden I am looking at carbs....can someone PLEASE tell me, WHAT is considered 'high' carbs per serving. I looked at something the other day that was 26, and to me, that seems high, is it? Help!! Surgery is in June, and I'm trying to educate myself now....I want a crash course! I know about fat and sat. fat...but carbs...Yikes! Thank you in advance!

I know everyone has different ideas, so it's best to ask your nutritionist (nut). Mine told me to limit my carb intake to 15 per meal. So, that would be 45 a day. Some go lower and some people aren't given any real restrictions. My best advice is see what works for you. Start with your nut guidelines and then modify as you find best.

That being said, I want to note that she told me not to worry about any of that during my liquid and puree phase. At that time, my priority is to be Water and then, Protein. Then, she wanted me to start watching the carbs - 3oz Protein, veggies, then fruit.< /p>

I could have ground meat on the mushie stage. I cooked ground turkey and a little taco seasoning and mixed lf sour cream in with it too. If you like avocado, you can smash a ripe one in that too.

I agree with Mini-Me. You should consult your nutritionist/dietician. For me- I wasn't given any real guideline for it. My personal trainer says 60% of your daily calories should be from carbs. My doc says just limit white carbs- after all your body needs carbs to function.

I generally eat alot of carbs. But they're fruit and veggie, and dietary Fiber, not so much refined sugars. I'm of the understanding that it's more about the quality not quantity.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
