bigdd 0 Posted November 17, 2009 Im 1 week post op now and overall feel pretty good. The only problem im having and maybe its normal is my stool in very watery (brown) and lots of noise from my stomach, steady and loud. I read where a couple of you had the opposite problem being constapated. Is this normal what I have? Im still on the Clear Liquids maybe thats it?
Tiffykins 673 Posted November 17, 2009 Perfectly normal. I had a lot of watery bm's while on the clear and even the full liquid stage of the post-op diet. I didn't deal with Constipation until I hit the soft solid/solid stage of the diet. Liquid in, liquid out for now. Just keep sipping so you stay hydrated. bigdd 0 Posted November 17, 2009 ok I was kinda wondering if its all this liquid...... so the Constipation comes later eh  lol

cajun 46 Posted November 18, 2009 Yep, normal. Once you start on more solid food, you might want to take some Miralax or similar product on a regular basis to prevent Constipation. It can get pretty uncomfortable. Keeping things moving along also helps prevent "constipation stalls" in my opinion. One day I "dumped" four times and lost three pounds overnight! thinoneday 445 Posted November 18, 2009 ok I was kinda wondering if its all this liquid...... so the Constipation comes later eh :scared0: lol Hi bigdd, are you from Canada? Detected the accent (eh). . . hehehe. . .apparently yes diarrhea is a normal thing with this surgery. . . and like Tiffy said, liquid in, liquid out. . . that is a really good way to describe it. . newmom 0 Posted November 19, 2009 Can I ask -- does Imodium work? I just found out I have a big meeting at work 10 days after surgery! I'm freaked.
bigdd 0 Posted November 19, 2009 (edited) I talked to the contact LPN and she suggested taking benefibre every day to help with the clumping and so far it is working. Before the BM's weren't steady, you went normal but it was straight liquid. Edited November 19, 2009 by bigdd
Bob_350lbs 105 Posted November 19, 2009 Constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating...all normal for me until 3 mos out. I still can go days w/o a BM, which is fine with me.

JudyJudyJudy 7 Posted December 10, 2009 I only had one bout of Constipation, and it's because I ate a bunch of cheese one day. I am only 1 week out. I just had my first bowel movement this morning. It was very firm/hard. It took a while but everything came out ok (pun intended) LOL. I was worried about being constipated. I don't get much noice from my tummy. I was pretty "windy" the first week though. Everything is GREAT, I've not had one problem at all. I've tried some things here and there, especially this week. Peanuts (chewed to mush) pureed porks chops in gravy (only ate an oz) very good. I've had a couple bites of refried Beans & mashed potatoes. All went down well. I had to go on 1 week of clear fluids 2 weeks of full fluids 1 week of soft food then other food........no nuts for a couple months. If you had the "sleeve" im amazed at the differance in post op diets:ohmy:
