Lee 19 Posted December 17, 2009 Hey Ash, Now we're gonna be Sleevsters. I'm so happy Dr. Chu thinks you're a good candidate for the Sleeve. Did you like Dr. Chu? You've been losing great. We may be lined up for surgery at around the same time. Oh what fun! :001_tongue:

Lee 19 Posted December 22, 2009 Hi Ash, How you doing? I forgot about my "diet" today and ate a 2x2 brownie and 3 pieces of candy. I've been staying away from sugar, so I felt like I was ready to leap from a tall building. I do fine at home but for some reason, the sugar got to me in the office today. I'll be so happy when the holidays are over. I'm hoping to be at my pre-surgery goal weight at the January 5th support group meeting. How many pounds do you need to lose pre-surgery? How's it going? realred64 0 Posted August 4, 2010 Hi, I am going through Kaiser Fremont, things have been moving along pretty good there (compared to some of the things I had heard about timelines) I am in the weight loss process and of 24 pounds to lose prior to the surgery being scheduled I have lost 10. I originally wanted the RNY, but due to Crohn's Disease my Dr. won't do RNY or Lap Band only Sleeve on me. I agree, everything I have read on this site is so encouraging, everyone seems to be very happy with their sleeve. this has been a great source of information and encouragement. Creatinglee best of luck and let us know how things are going. Did you get the sleeve anf how are you doing? I have Crohn's Disease too, and my surgeon is being an a$$ about giving me the sleeve. Nayna 0 Posted August 4, 2010 realred64: I got the sleeve on May 19, 2010 and am doing great. The Sleeve is the only way my Dr. would go - wouldn't cut on intestines, and said the lap band would not be good due to meds I was on (6MP, Remicade, Asacol for the Crohn's) I have had no problems, my Crohn's even seems better and I have been off 6MP since before surgery and have not had Remicade for one round. I can't help thinking the Crohn's is better because I have less food going in.....I still have some issues, but nothing like it was before the Remicade. I have lost 50 pounds since my surgery and have lost 92 since starting pre-surg weight loss in November. I have never felt better and am going to the gym 5 days a week for Water aerobics (which I swear by, that and drinking all my water) Best of luck, Nayna
realred64 0 Posted August 4, 2010 Nayna- Your words and experience as a Crohn's sleever are heaven sent to me. The surgeon I am dealing with here in So Cal Kaiser was telling me that all the sleevers that also have Crohn's disease have gotten sick, and for long periods, and that I would be sick forever. I asked him for statistics, and documention. He could not provide, and the fact that he said forever sick is crazy. The VSG has only been around since 2002. I made it my mission to find sleevers like you that are success stories. Thank you so much. I am in remission with my CR. I do get an infusion of Remecade every 6 weeks tho. Have had this disease for over 20 years, and this last 6 years have been pretty darn good. I have a little over 100 lbs to lose. I am beyond ready, doing prep for a upper GI and Colonocsopy today (drinking the gallon on Colyte) and having the procedures tomorrow. Then I will be moving forward to get a new dr. and sleeved soon- I hope. Will post updates. :confused1:
