So, I'm just under 2 weeks post-op, I'm down 21 lbs and 10 inches as of today. I'm getting a little stressed because my weight hasn't moved since last week. I have lost 3 more inches this week, though. Is this common? Am I doing something wrong? I haven't been getting exactly the right amount of Protein (but close), probably am not as hydrated as I need to be, but working on it, and I'm exercising. I'm starting to get paranoid that the sleeve is not going to work for me :scared0:.

A little encouragement/advice would be great. :biggrin0:

Never fear, that is exactly what happened to me during my second week post-op and I had lost 20 lbs. since surgery. For 11 days I did not lose a single pound (actually started fluctuating up and down 2 pounds). Finally on day 12, I dropped a pound and haven't had a stall that long since (normally stall for 4-6 days: knock on wood). I am now down 53 lbs. since surgery (69 lbs. since pre-op diet) at 3 1/2 months post-op, so not the fastest weight loss, but I'm very happy with the results. Oh, I also was not able to get all my Protein in each day at that point, but worked really hard to get in as much as possible. I hope this puts your mind at ease a little. Good luck on your journey!

21 lbs and 10 inches - that's GREAT - how can you be doing something wrong with losses like that? Even if the scale doesn't move, you're losing inches - that is fantastic. I know that my scale has slowed down on the lbs. lost; however, I keep losing inches and my "new" clothes are getting looser and looser on me. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep losing weight and inches - don't stress out about it - stress will keep you from losing weight - everyone loses at a different rate, the important thing is that you're losing - either weight or inches - so keep on keeping on girl! This "stall" will pass!

I'm also two weeks and 2 days post-op. I've lost 17 pounds, but the scale hasn't moved in the past 4 days. I was getting nervous, so I thought I'd check in on others. I'm glad to see that it should pass if we stick to it. Thanks for the info!

Yep, you are doing fine. You will have starts and stops, but the inches continue to drop away even when the pounds are not. Your body needs adjustment times in between chunks of weight loss.

Relax, and weigh once a week when you are in a stall, so you don't get stressed.

Thanks guys. I feel much better about it! I think I was just having one of those days yesterday, and need a little lift. Thanks for it :)

The stressing out part is the exact reason that I choose not to have a scale at home and not to weigh except at my doctor's appointments or once a month at the gym. I am all for losing weight and sticking to the eating plan recommended by my doctor, but I know that I can so easily become obsessed with the scale numbers and allow them to dictate how I feel about myself on any given day.

Norma-

You are absolutely right about that. In fact, today, I'm putting mine in the trash. It's a junky one that's probably as old as I am. I definitely become obsessed with the scale, which is why I'm so stressed. I think I will still weigh once a week, because that's my personal trainers schedule. And, like I said, I'm obsessed. :thumbup1:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
