Hey friends,

Sorry I haven't been on here much this week. I have been really sick with this nasty flu. I have been struggling to get enough fluids in and keep all the nasty tasting meds. down. I feel a little better today. Doc said I might be able to go back to work on Monday. We just have to wait and see. :confused1:

Thank you all for your comments. I feel better today. I also had an acute sinus infection and broncitis. I'm just glad the meds are working.

If you start to show systems of the flu, please go to the Dr. asap. I was feeling bad one day and the next day I could hardly move. Very weak and felt like I couldn't breathe.

So please be carefull and take care of yourselves. I work in a room with 28 kindergarteners all day. Needless to say, they don't always cover their mouth while coughing.

Ky Hen, hope you feel better fast. Anyone working with children is likely to get the flu...All I can say, is bless your heart, for the work you do. You are forming our future leaders.

How do the test to see if it's HiNi?

Hope you're all better soon.

Thank you.

Daisy, they do a nasal swab that takes 20 minutes. They can also do a blood test.

Thanks. That's good to know. I have been wondering how they can tell if it's that or regular flu.

I hope you're feeling better today.

Actually about 90% of the Influenza A in the US now is H1N1, so if you've got the flu, you've probably got H1N1. The nasal swab only tests for whether you have the flu, and whether it is Type A or Type B. To further type it for possible H1N1, the specimen has to be sent to a special lab, like the CDC. That's not done too often.

I have been home sick for the past two days, feeling better now. Maybe it was H1N1, I don't know.

Hope you are feeling better soon. It's doing the rounds this side of the pond too, together with sickness bugs, and I like you work with children so only a matter or time I guess....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
