Welcome Paula - seems like you've got the posting part figured out - just keep "exploring" the site and testing things - it's not like you're going to really ruin anything - just play around and you'll learn the ins and outs! Congratulations on your surgery date!

Congratulations Paula on your upcoming surgery! I've found this place to be very informative and encouraging and I'm sure you'll find it the same. Good luck on your liquid diet...it'll be over before you know it.

Hi there,

I'm new to this site as well AND my surgery is scheduled for Nov. 17th as well. I wonder if we have the same surgeon since you are in BayCity and I'm in Midland... will be great to go through this journey with someone and so close... My surgeon is Dr. Mark Pleatman in Mich...

hi Paula.. just answered your post a moment ago.. realized we must not have the same surgeon.. mine does not require liquid diet... going for nutritional class on the 11th and pre-surgical appointment but other than that no diet.. am starting to wonder if I'm the only one? Still we are having surgery on the same day and will be great to follow each others stories!

Hi all,

my big day is Nov. 19th with Dr. Aceves...Because i have a BMI of 38 he has only suggested a low carb diet for the week prior. I guess every situation is different due to surgeon and starting weight!

I cant wait!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
