Working Overnights.......

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna eat...... I have to work overnights for 3 or 4 days.....7pm to 8 am.

:thumbup1:

I don't want to eat prior to going to bed. And I'm sure I'm gonna be so tired the first night I will fall right to sleep.< /span>

I start tonight....... so I got up really early this morning (like 3 am) so i can go lay down about 1pm and hopefully sleep til 5:30

I guess I can have my Protein and coffee backwards, have it around 8 pm

And was thinking just some broth the first nights, afraid to have anything Heavy, but know I have to eat....... suggestions!! Pleaseeeeeeee!:svengo:

Chancie,

I work nights 6pm to 6am four nights a week. It makes eating very difficult because on the days you switch from days to nights you tend to eat 5 meals in 24 hours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner during the day, and then usually lunch and dinner during the night. I try to eat lightly during the day, Protein drink or salad at lunch time, fish fillet at dinner time, so I can eat more normally while I'm working. I don't know if this helps, but it's what I do. Good luck tonight.

Chancie ~

I recently went back to nights 7pm - 7am 3x a week. I was on days for 18 months prior to this. But have been working nights for 5+ years total, that's how I packed on the additional 30 lbs that made me think about WLS in the first place! Your going to start craving carbs a bit more at night. I've noticed that what I am bringing to work is not exactly what I should be! Last week I kicked myself in the rear and starting bringing better Snacks, Edamame Beans, hummas with low fat, low cab, sea salt pita chips, cheese sticks, etc. I don't like to eat a "meal" because it makes me sleepy but 1-2 Snacks keep me sane! Hope this helps.

Hi Chancie..hope ur doing well:001_smile:

I would have to agree with alegna on the meal thing. especially carbs, they tend to make me sleepy too...

I would suggest some sort of grilled Protein that u'll nibble on throughout the night? grilled fish or prawns perhaps...

Thanks everyone!

I made it thru nights, am on Vac... and go back to days on Monday.

I got a feeling tho that I'll be put on nights after Christmas.... so will have to come back to this thread.

I actually lost 2 pounds working overnights! I was soooo busy that a few nights I didn't even sit down. Not good, but it was necessary.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
