Bird Stuck in my Wall!

Recommended Posts

We heard the bird this morning! It's still alive so we got up and punched a hole in the wall. It must have seen the light because it came right out of the hole. IT WAS THE MOM!

No wonder it survived the night. It was older. We opened a window and out she went.. I promptly began crying my eyes out with relief but also sadness.

You see, she was chirping and the babies were answering yesterday. I had thought it was the other way around.

The babies are probably dead by now. :think I've been listening and watching the mother and babies since they built the nest, so this is really sad for me.

ANd the thought that if I had the presence of mind to have done this yesterday afternoon instead of needing everyone's help, the babies would be alive.

I went out on the porch and she flew to a pole and looked at me as if to say "what the fark just happened???!"

The babies may make it yet, esp. if you live in a warm climate. Depending on how old they are, and when they were last fed, temperature can be the bgigest factor. My parents used to breed birds (not professionally), and I had a breeding pair of cockateils. I was often surprised by how long the babies could go, if warm.

i am so glad you got her out!! And I would not worry about the babies. they might be fine. one night shouldn't hurt them too badly. we will just have to let time tell. oh, i am so glad she is out. i thought about it all night long!!

Okay, another update.

I think it might have been a fledgling, not the momma. I saw 3 "adults" come from the nest just now. The one I saved was there, I think it was a fledgling and was flying very well. They chased it out of the nest and it chirped at them on a pole and they chased it away.

???????

Poor thing. I hope it finds food on it's own, it must be starving.

I'm sorry about you not having closure about the birdie and I'm sorry about the long post you were trying to upload here when the site shut down. (I had something to do with that...sighs)

I hope you are ok and everything pans out. Don't worry about the birdie, just try to think it's in a very airy, blue skies, happy place.

A fledgling is a baby bird that is ready to go and try it's wings, start to learn life on their own. It was one of theirs. I wonder why they are chasing it away?? :(

Thaks Telly. I'm a natural worrier and hard on myself, like so many of us are. I get it from my mom.:)

Maybe it was sick. I know that when I was a kid, my cat ate her newborn baby boy (black kitty). The doctor tells me that they can sense when one is sick and will do anything they can to ensure that the rest of the litter is not harmed by disease. Sad but perhaps it's the case. I don't really know. Or maybe they weren't chasing it. Discovery channel had a segment where a mother bird was actually trying to push her babies to get out of the nest and try to fly so maybe that is a reason.

Happy Bird News.....I love it!!! My DH and I were both thinking of the little birds last night. Don't beat yourself up Leener. You did the best you could do and the timing was just right. Don't worry about what should have happened earlier. You did the right thing!!

We had a nest of Robin fledglings (my new word...didn't know what it was either) and our kitten got into them. We were having a family cookout and everyone felt so bad b/c they ended up on the ground. My dad thought they were dead for sure. Well, my DH got an Easter basket and tied it to the tree, put the fledglings in it and the mommy came back. A day later, we watch them all make their first flight and trip away from the nest. It was heart warming to say the least. Man, can you telly I'm a sucker for animals?

they might have chased him out cause he doesn't smell or seem right. he has been to places unknown, and touched by hands. mommas will push a baby right out of the nest when that happens.

When I was a little girl we had a baby (and I mean BABY) red robin land on our porch from an overhanging tree branch. We put it in a shoe box and lined it with cotton balls and newpaper. We were so afraid the mom would not come and clean it or feed it. We bought some baby bird food and a syringe to feed it. but no matter what it just wouldn't take it. we even tried forceful feeding. not happeneing. it was getting weak, and my mom taught me about death to prepare me. upong getting up on time i accidentally tapped the side of the box, jolting it. the baby bird just went nuts and held its wide open mouth up high. it needed that mocking of the momma landing on the nest to know it was feeding time. it ate like a champ, and we took care of it till it flew off on its own. i will remember that forever, and it was prolly one of the best ways for a kid to learn about life. it also made me fall in love with how nature works.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
