Aside from them being high in carbs, you want to be careful eating any type of Pasta. You may feel like you have eaten a small amount and you stop eating thinking you are satisfied. Then, about twenty minutes later you find you are absolutely miserable because that "small amount" has swollen up inside your tummy to twice the size.

I agree, the same goes for rice and bread. I avoid all of these. A swollen sleeve could cause a leak, and if not a leak, a few hours of miserable pain and vomiting.

yes I completely agree with NOT eating noodles LOL I now I realize what you are saying when you say that they will expand in your stomach.....I didn't have any vomitting....but boy did I feel like it....AND my stomach started hurting :thumbup1: I am just getting so bored with the same old Soups (mainly broth) and sugar free popsicles....WHAT IS EVERYONE EATING AT 3 WEEKS OUT?

you do not have to just have broth. At three weeks, get any Soup you want that sounds good to you. Blend it and sip slowly. It is heaven in a cup. You can have yogurt now. SF puddings are a spoonful of paradise. I like baby applesauce and pears.

I can even enjoy FF cottage cheese. Tastes good to me now. Iamjust trying to enjoy the new feelings and sensations I am getting in response to food.< /p>

My nutritionist advised me to avoid carbs/starches all together, because:

They will stall/stop your weight loss, because your body wants to hold

on to them, because it hasn't had them in 3 weeks.

Pasta and Rice swell up in your stomach and make you miserable.

very low nutritional value and too much starch.

Things to avoid: rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, corn, crackers, grits,

dry Cereal, oatmeal, chips, etc.

Hope this helps.

Okalani - check out the thread "Dr. Aceves' information" - there is a list of things to eat at various stages in the pre-op diet- may help give you some ideas. Also, check out the recipe section - I posted one for egg drop Soup that is really good and tasty - plus there are other ideas as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
