Hey everyone! Another fellow Louisiana inhabitant here. I'm actually right outside of Baton Rouge in a growing town called Denham Springs. That's right - home of the future Bass Pro Shop! Pft.

Anywho, I've recently started doing a bit of research about the lap-band procedure, and as it turns out, www.lapband.com only recommends one doctor that's also on my insurance. His name is Karl Leblanc. Anyone heard of him?

I spoke with his secretary yesterday and she's going to start looking up information on my insurance to see how my insurance would work with it.

Hope to hear from more of you soon.

Hi nice to meet you but, Sorry I never heard of him. Where is he located?

Hi. I am new to the boards. I am looking for a surgeon in Louisiana. My insurance will not cover the Lap-Band, so I will have to pay for it myself. I have an appointment with Dr. Chung in Lake Charles this week. Has anyone used him? I have heard great things about Dr. Lavin in Metairie. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!:help:

I used DR. French in Metairie, he is with Dr. Lavin. They are very good. Go to www.whyweight.com . I think you would really be satisfied. I was self pay $12,900, that includes a year of visits. Chris the NP is awesome. Good Luck on your decision.:clap2:

I would suggest Dr. Lavin at WhyWeight.com- Weight Loss Surgery in Louisiana - Home. It was 12.900 and the first year of fills is free. Being that the latter is the case, it is the best economically... he's also very good.

I found your post from a year ago. I'm about to have my surgery on March 10 with Dr. Thomas at Southern Surgical Hospital. How did it all go for you? Are you glad you did it? Any words of advice you'd care to share as I am really starting to get nervous.

I was banded on 2-25-08 and am a resident of the Westbank. I was recommended to Dr.Treen of the Surgical Clinic of LA. My Arrhythmia Specialist told me to attend one of their seminars. Best hour spent in a long time.

The staff is first rate and the Bariatric Nurse Coordinator is wonderful. If interested check them out at their website www.sclaweightloss/ . I had my surgery done at West Jefferson Hospital, but they do operate out of a couple differant hospitals so your choices are not limited to the Westbank.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
