A couple of great things...

Recommended Posts

I've been busy with out of town guests over the last few days and actually didn't have a chance to jump on my scale and weigh. Well, this morning I stepped on the scale and it read 179, I finally broke out of the 180's!

Also, yesterday we all went shopping and I was actually able to button up some size 12's (a little tight) and actually bought a size 10 dress. Now I know that these things all run very big because I still have 14's in my closet that I can barely get into, but it just makes me so happy to see these awesome results when just a few months ago I was wearing 22's-24's.

Lastly, at jazzercise I had to use my 5 lb weights because I couldn't find 8 or 10 lb ones, and they were so light and easy for me to use. Six weeks ago when I started back, I couldn't even use weights and then I started with 3 lbs. and moved up to 5, which were so hard for me to use at the time.

I LOVE my sleeve!

Thanks Susan, I'm just so excited because although I've read how well people do with their sleeves and have been very pleased with my results, I always had a doubt in my mind that this might not work as well for me. Well, I now weigh less than I have in my adult life and feel like I can work this all the way to goal.

Congratulations Deedee! Your story is amazing and in just such a short time! I'm only on day 6 and can't wait until I am where you are! The sleeve really is amazing! I know it was the right decision for me.

God Bless!

Ha, I love the tiny hinney! Can't wait for all of me to be tiny! Hubbie wants me to be no less then 200 lbs but for me I'm sliding down to 175 if at all possible or less. . . by the way I wear size 12-14 at 200 lbs. . . isn't that wild?????? And I have a tiny hinney then too. . . but at 175??? Wow that will be totally amazing I don't think I've ever been at that weight. . . must have jumped from 150 straight to 200 when I was younger! hehehe. . . congratulations DeeDee! Keep up the wonderful work!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
