Scheduled for tomorrow - OMG!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I am scheduled for tomorrow and so excited that I can hardly concentrate on anything.......

Now I feel as if I have forgotten all the info that I have accumulated over the last few months.

Can somebody please remind me of pre and post op procedures, diet etc.. I will go over the threads again. But I am all frazzled.

YAY :):sad0::lol0::lol0::lol0::lol0::lol0:

XBander - congratulations on your surgery -how exciting (and yes, nerve wracking too). It's a little too late for the pre-op diet - other than you shouldn't eat or drink 12 hours before your surgery. Post-op I am sure your doctor will provide you with a post-op diet; if not, the one that Dr Aceves uses is pretty good. Most importantly - walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. Don't lift anything over 15 lbs. for 6 weeks. Oh yes, and post as soon as you feel up to it to share your story!

Oh congratulations! I am still waiting for my date, so i know how excited and anxious you must be feeling.

Just think, the new YOU begins tomorrow...you are so lucky. From what I've read on this forum, I'd say you need to get to the store and make sure you have some Crystal Lite, chicken broth, SF Jello, and SF popsicles.

Good luck tomorrow, and post as soon as you can to let us know how you're doing.:sad0:

Wow, another lucky girl! You know what just blows my mind? Is that there are sooooo many people getting this sleeve done! Imagine before I only knew about the RNY and lap band, since then I've learned so much about the sleeve. . . it's amazing! I never even knew the thing existed! . . .

I just got in from the doctors(my PCP ), and there was a new nurse there and she was discussing my weight loss and I told her I had the Verticle Sleeve done, and she had the band........ a few minutes later she commented that she had never heard of it, and what does it do? fit over the band??? I was about floored! But I just explained the procedure very simply.....

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
