Dreamy cheesy crockpot chicken

Recommended Posts

I'm only posting recipes that I've tried... I tried this one tonight, with brocolli and rice.. wasn't too bad, and even you guys that are early out can probably eat this too... if you shred your chicken real small like I did....

Ingredients

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves

1 can healthy request cream of mushroom Soup

1 8 oz package reduced fat cream cheese

1.5 cups of Water

1 packet good season italian dressing mix

Directions

Add chicken, Water and good seasons to your crockpot, let cook for 4 hours on low.

About 1 hour before serving pull chicken out of fluids and shred. Add back chicken,

add cream cheese and cream of mushroom Soup, mix well.

Serve of egg noodle, rice or veggies. Delish!

Chancie - sounds delish - I printed it out and will make it sometime later this week - I'm going to try the salmon recipe this week too.

What I like about it, is the weather is finally starting to turn a bit colder, and when it does that I start thinking about good old fashioned comfort foods. I think this will definitely fit the bill!

The thing that frustrates me about great dishes like this is that I'm only able to get about 2 oz. down. I made a home-made Soup and had to freeze most of it. I divided some of it up into 4oz portions and left that in my fridge but even they were too large a portion for me to eat! That soup sounds great; makes 4 servings using 4 split chicken breasts, but are any of you able to eat 1 serving? My body just won't let me eat more than a few tsps. and then I know it's time to stop or else.:sad0: I'm not getting enough calories. Even a 1/4 cup would be nice.

Lan, as you get a little bit further out, you will be able to eat more. I can easily eat 1/4 cup now, and more. It will even out soon and you will be able to eat enough to feel full and satisfied that you were able to enjoy a small, but filling portion.

It will get better with time ... I know your frustrations with having so much and then being able to eat so little .... even though Bearded and I both had the surgery and eat about the same amount, we still have lots of leftovers. I have a seal-a-meal which I use to keep the leftovers fresh, plus I freeze alot and since Bearded works out of the house, he'll oftentimes eat the leftovers the next day for lunch.

Hang in there each week it's gets easier. I promise!

Thanks Susan, thanks VegasAngel, I do hope that easier will be the case for me. With so little food, I'm just so uptight and worried about getting in enough Protein, nutrients and Fluid. It's almost impossible and consumes my mind from the moment I awake to the moment I fall asleep.

I know what you mean about recipes making tooo much! This one wasn't too bad, and my son is here, so that helps. But usually when i cook something that makes alot, I freeze some or I live on it for the week....take to work for lunch and have for dinner. I know alot of people get bored with this, but I HATE to waste food! It's probably what got me in trouble in the first place!

This is one reason I suppose Dr Aceves recommends we not eat Soups...he wants us to eat dense, solid Protein like chicken etc, so we get all the grams we need. I am a soup lover, and especially when the weather is cold so it is going to be a challenge for me to use soup sparingly for a treat.

I'm eating dense solid Protein where and when I can but still it barely comes to 1oz in weight! I'm 1 month and 4 days out. I hope I don't have any obstructions that may be causing me to only be able to eat such small amounts of food. I thought that the sleeve would accomodate at least 3oz.

You are still in the baby stage Lan - down the road you will be able to eat more - I can probably eat about 3-4 oz. now at 4.5 months out - and that varies from meal to meal. Have patience and QUIT worrying - worrying is not good for you - especially when there's nothing you can do about it - it's just wasted energy - focus on the positives - and as long as you get in your fluids and some Proteins, I wouldn't worry about it - I know for a fact that I wasn't getting in my Protein at 1 month out - and there's probably days now when I don't get it in either - if I'm more restricted than on other days.

I make sure to drink two Protein shakes daily (66 gms Protein including the milk) which I have to get in if I am going to make my 70 grams of protein daily.

I'm less than 1 month out and still on mushies. For lundh, I make a paste of chicken breast, or salmon, with a little broth, in the blender. Can eat between 1-2 (max) ounces, and that is just "priming the sleeve" I think. Getting it in practice for eating more solid foods. It's in no way meant to be sustaining me. I am comfortable with the very gradual introduction of more dense Proteins as Dr Aceves recommends. But the shakes help me be sure to get in the protein so I don't lose muscle instead of fat. (Not that I have a lot of muscle to lose Ha Ha.)

Hopefully it will help prevent the hair loss that happens to some people several months post op.

I sip on the Protein Shakes at work through the day. It seems to work well for me.

Cajun- you sound like I was- was very hard for me to get in my protein- I was very sick the first few months. I still use Protein Drinks to get in my Protein.< /span>

I'm also glad that you mentioned the hair loss.... I never dreamed it would haopen to me. but at 5 months out it DID!! I was taking no precautions because I always had a thick head of hair.

I'd reccomend anyone that had weight loss surgery to take extra hair and nails Vitamins, and I also started using a topical solution of Minoxidil- Generic at Wal-mart and I can see a difference! I ended up cutting my hair a bit shorter and I can see a difference lots of new hair groth.

Okay I'll try to keep that in mind. I'm grappling with some anxiety and sometimes I do worry. Thanks for addressing this.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
