:001_huh: So after waiting 1 1/2 years to get this done, and being merely 4 days away from my surgery day, I think I am getting sick. I dont feel sick, but have a runny nose. My quick question is, do you think they will cancel my surgery? I hope not!!! :crying:

Is it possible it's allergies? Has it been windy where you are? Anytime the wind blows here in Las Vegas, I always get a runny nose ... start taking AIRBORNE today - double up if you have too ... I believe that really helps - I always take it before I fly so I don't get sick when flying ... give it a try - it surely won't hurt anything.

That is what I think it might be. But I am getting chills now. No fever, and it is cold right now. I am in Los Angeles. I went and bought some Theraflu, hoping it will help out. When I went for my pre-op they told me not to take any herbs or anything with asperin in it. Just Tylenol. Lets hope its just allergies. :001_huh:

Have you contacted your doctor? That is probably what I would do. He might be able to call you in a prescription for something that will knock it out in a hurry. When I was 18, I was scheduled to get my tonsils out. Three days before the surgery, I came down with a nasty cold. I went to my doctor, who was an ear, nose and throat doctor. This is gross, but he suctioned all the "stuff" out of my nose, gave me a shot and I was better in time for my surgery.

I'm so sorry your feeling badly. . .hopefully it's get better before the surgery, what a major disappointment it would be to have to reschedule! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you're better by friday! It's only Tuesday, rest and drink tons of liquids! Get some of those in the shower inhaler things and see if that helps (you get them at Walmart in the cold remedies section. . .

And a little stuffed up:crying:. No fever (YAY):lol0:. I am really thinking its allergies as I am getting post nasal drip behind my throat. It is just Tuesday so hopefully it will pass, whatever it is. I am drinking tea and Soups and keeping hydrated. Thanks again everyone:biggrin0:

Feeling a bit better today:thumbup1:. Just 2 more days till my surgery. Still feel a bit stuffed up, and can still feel a little bit of gunk in my throat/lungs. But not nearly as much as before. I have to make myself cough to bring it up, but most of the time its nothing. I think its just habit at this point. I hope it completely goes away by friday. I have been OD'ing on Airborne, Theraflu and any type of tea I can get my hands on. Thanks for the comments BTW.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
