big fills vs. little fills

Recommended Posts

You poor thing. When I was 4 days post op I decided to test my band by trying some nice, juicy chicken. I felt like I was having a heart attack This was the only time I had to drink to wash down the blockage. Unfortunately, it takes a few days after the fill before having any real food. Remember, chewing is the key! Good luck to you!

SO what does one eat/drink after a fill? I had my first fill today. I was told clear fluids for the nest 24-48hours. I am terrified to eat anything b/c i dont know what to expect. I dont want any blockage feeling!! I had 2cc put in my 4cc band. She had me drink Water and it went down fine. I'm hoping this is an indication of no future problems. Could i b wrong....What foods should i start with??? Yike!! i have so many questions!!!

my band holds 10 ml,i have 3 1/2 ml currently,i have no restriction over 2 fills[which in time is close to 3mths]i tend to feel a larger fill would be good to get some restriction, then put in smaller ones so as not to cause problems, but i may only have this opinion now due to how im feeling,i geuss ,espeacialy if your out of town, maybe its slower/gradualy incase of complication?

I have the small AP 10cc band and have had four fills. My first fill was four weeks after the initial surgery. I think they were aggressive and I'm happy about that; it has served me well.

The PA that did my last fill said that they were experiencing a little difficulty in getting patients too tight with these new bands. It's a learning experience for them as well as us. She did say that, although there is no standard, patients seem to experience good restriction at 6 to 7 cc's in these new bands.

Right now, I'm at 7.3, which was only a .4 cc fill. At 6.9, I could still eat way too much food. I'm hoping this is the perfect spot for me.

I think everyone is different and you just have to listen to your body. If you're hungry and can eat too much food, you probably need a fill. If you're rockin' along very nicely with no or little restriction, then that's great for you!

Again, we're all different, but I've had no problems whatsoever with aggressive fills. From here on out, I'm sure if I need another one, it will be just a small tweak!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
