Oh my, this brings back horrible thoughts about when I was on phentermine! Cotton mouth from the yazoo. . . I chewed a lot of sugar free gum. . . drank a lot of Water, brushed my teeth a lot, put those listerine strips under my tongue, any thing to prevent cotton mouth.:001_wub:

I have the exact same problem! I wake up several times during the night with cotton mouth and I hate it. I just keep a bottle of Water on my nightstand and drink it throughout the night as needed.

This was a problem for me the first several weeks. I also kept a bottle of Water by the bed and drank some when I woke up. It goes away I promise. It is just hard to get as much fluids as you need the first few weeks.

I always take a glass of Water to bed with me - I've done that for as long as I can remember and it hasn't changed since my surgery. I also keep some SF lifesavers and Halls Cough drops in a jar on my nightstand -- sometimes I get that throat tickle and water doesn't do the trick - so if I pop in a SF lifesaver or cough drop and suck on it, the tickle goes away and I am able to go back to sleep -- I've done this for years, too, and so far I've never choked on them or have they fallen out of my mouth.:001_unsure:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
