stoongal - did you post all the details?

Recommended Posts

stoongal, thanks for the details. congrats on your return. So glad your family has accepted your change. I cannot get my husband on board with this yet. So, I have not made an appt yet. I have a best friend in toon town, would love to have her meet you and the other toon girl. Maybe if she wants to do this we could do it together. Thne my husband would lighten up. (?) So many more issues than just the right Dr. or place to choose. I am so glad you had such a good experience, it helps me.

keep posting progress reports. you can email me direct at carolyn24seven@aol.com.

I wouldn't exactly describe it as being "tickled from the inside" - it was a very strange feeling- it didn't hurt but I was glad when he FINALLY stopped removing it!!

It was indeed a very strange feeling and you felt like he was a magician with a scarf trick - the tubing just kept coming and coming...LOL

One of the ToonTowners here :)

Sure, meeting someone face to face is more convincing than a bunch of messages. Meeting someone with an RNY put me off that surgery for life! (Yes, I know it works for a lot of people, and for them it is the right choice.)

To me it felt as though I was being tickled from the inside.

That's how it felt to me too, Rosebud. It sure was long! I understand that some surgeons don't use a drain. I 'm sure glad I had it, because it seemed to drain out quite a bit of blood-tinged Fluid every day, even on the day it was removed...I might be wrong but think it might have been uncomfortable to have that much Fluid inside just waiting to resorb eventually.

Thanks for posting your experience there Mom!! It WAS really helpful having you call every night from Mexico to keep your over anxious daughter feeling better! Haha!

I TOO am a person that requires a LOT of detail like you Nancy! So I appreciate hearing all the little details about what I can expect when I go for my surgery in January! With the photos posted by superppp, the MILLIONS of questions that I have, and continue to ask my Mom, (and lurking on the site here too!!) I feel like I know pretty much EVERYTHING that's going to happen!

VERY VERY helpful info to an inquiring mind like mine!!

Thanks! And I look forward to posting about my own personal journey in the future!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
