Tonight I had homemade chicken broth, oh was it ever good! for dessert, (I am still sipping on it) am having Welsh's light grape juice with a bit of Water added to it, delicious!

Yum! I'm a wuss and asked my Mom to make me traditional Greek chicken Soup and strain it. Mmmmmm. I'm glad you're home and doing well

Anyway, hope you will be able to attend the upcoming support group that will start first Wed of November. The more, the merrier, we are getting a nice little group going here in Toon town! They are talking of doing a clothing exchange. Worth checking out!

Sign me up! I couldn't get to the pre op meeting (I don't drive) and missed it. Where're you holding it?

Bookgirl - congratulations on your surgery. Isn't Dr. Aceves awesome? I've had the reaction your talking about to other medications - my doctor called it "flushing" and it lasted about a day or two.

As for the naps, I needed them for a while after surgery until I was getting in more Protein ... having undergone surgery, the anesthesia and the drop in calories/ Protein, it's not uncommon to run out of steam before you run out of day!

Keep us posted on your progress -- you're going to be THRILLED!

Hi, I had my Sleeve in Melbourne, Australia on 14 Sept... My surgery like many exbanders was complicated by an abscess and adhesions (my band was 75% eroded when removed July 2008).. so I had an feeding tube placed, in case of complication... have to say my recovery has been remarkable,... feel better than I have for 18 months, which was when my band possibly started to erode... still take pain medication for back pain,... as I tend to get back pain rather than abdo pain from my stomach... I have progressed through liquids- pur?e - soft and now to normal diet as tolerated... which I am doing well with... find the rules are a the same as with the band... cut food up small... and chew well... I have lost around 8 kg (16-18Ib)... and expect a fairly slow weight loss as I only have 20 kg to loss, as my BMI was 28 when sleeved..... Have found though that I now have no desire to eat sweets, where as post banding I craved anything sweet... am exercising.... and back to work two weeks earlier than first thought, this week... and the feeding tube will be removed within the next few weeks as it isn't being used....

At this stage i am so glad i went ahead with the sleeve for so many reasons....

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since Surgery and I feel absolutely wonderful. Essentially no pain or discomfort with surgery at all. I was walking the neighborhood the day after I got home from the hospital and have been at the gym once a day since 5 days post op. I have had a little trouble with head hunger but all in all life is good. I could have gone back to work probably after a week, maybe week and a half but I am taking 3 weeks off. I am enjoying just focussing on myself.

Oh wow! I keep hearing stories about how the band works fantastically well for some period of time, then everything goes to heck in a handbasket. I'm glad you got that thing out!

My craving for sweets hasn't change at all, and nothing so far tastes too sweet..rats.

The "pink stuff" washed right off with soap and Water in the shower, for me. Today I start the second phase of the diet, full liquids. Had a Jay Robb shake this morning and my sleeve feels a tiny bit sore after that...guess it is adjusting to the change.

It sure gave me more energy to have a nice boost of Protein. I have not been able to get in the 70 grams the first ten days since we are only allowed "clear" fluids ...I could only tolerate a little clear Isopure in each bottle of sobe life water...about 10 grams of Protein per bottle, and drank about four 20oz bottles daily. Also had some home made chicken broth. Maybe it's all in my head but I do feel better this morning after drinking the Jay Robb shake, that has 33 grams of protein (including the fat free milk).

Was having a little bit of diarrhea the first week home, but nothing since then. My larger incision that had the drain in it has finally closed up, no more drainage so I removed the dressing this morning. Things are mending nicely.

I am sleeping well, but much less than I used to before starting the wt loss. I think I have more energy because I have lost 30 lbs and am eating such low carb diet. Or maybe it is because I take a short nap every day.

I also notice that I am not feeling "hot" all the time. I used to keep my AC set on about 70 at night but now I feel cold if it is set that low. I have migrated it down to 72-74 and am very comfortable. I guess my wt loss is going to reduce energy expenditures and help the environment too! Has anyone else noticed that side effect?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
