Hey guys!

Im new at this site and Im located in Sweden. Is it ok for me to peek in and say hi even tho Im not from the States? Does it count if I have a canadian boyfriend? :)

Im scheduled for a sleeve surgery in Stockholm on the 26th of october and Im getting more nervous by the hour. I could use some assurance that I've made the right decision. Im an expert when it comes to losing weight. I've weighed everything between 130 pounds and 230 pounds, all within the last few years. My problem is I cant keep the weight off once I lose it. I've never been able to eat the recommended 2000 calories a day, if I do that, I gain 2 pounds a week. Even with a job where I constantly move around. So if Im forced to restrict my calory intake to a high of 1500 a day for the rest of my life, why not decrease my stomach pouch to match the intake..I cant seem to maintain my target weight any other way. I'm hoping to be able to stay at a healthy weight after having the surgery and losing the pounds I need to lose. OH I so hope I've made the right decision. :crying:

Hello and welcome to our forums! I love that you are from Sweden. I actually just reconnected with an old friend on Facebook that was an exchange student at my high school for two years and was from Sweden.

I think most of us here are experts on losing weight and have tried just about every diet known to mankind. Like you said, we just weren't very good at keeping it off. You will love, love, love the sleeve!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
