I am two months post op. Doing great until today. Hubby purchased some trail mix with raisins, M&M's and an assortment of nuts. Well I have gotten into them I must have ate 2-3 cups before I said STOP and dumped the whole container down the toilet. Why would someone do this after going thur the surgery and two months of behaving. I did eat this morning. Had Ham and a Protein Shake. THen it began had 1/c cup special K withskim milk then that trail mix. I hope I get sick so I never do this again!! So the trail mix has been drowned and I admit it I did IT!!

Umm wow!

I have a feeling you might pay for this big time, which seems to be what you want. I can't even imagine eating trail mix, much less two cups of it.

I am not sure what to tell you other than you are human. This is just a set back. If your stomach punishes you take your lumps and remember it when you want to jump into trail mix again. We don't change overnight.

Honestly, I think it takes a lot of guts to come here and admit you screwed up. For so many of us our food issues were hidden. We didn't talk about it and some of us ate in hiding. You are brave.

I've found trail mix to be a slider food, unfortunately. I stopped making it (I was using it on long bike rides). I still have nuts in the house, but I haven't been into them lately so that's okay. When I start going nuts with them, I stop buying them for a while or buy the kind Mr. Mac likes but I don't.

oh, that sounds like the trail mix that my boss bought. I am lucky I don't work much.

It's hard to stay out of it, and I can eat a lot of it. It seems like I have a bottomless pit inside when it comes to that stuff. I can eat a lot of it without feeling the least bit full. I don't know why that is.

Thanks everyone. I probably had a week setback doing the trail mix thing. NEVER AGAIN>

Everyone slips now and again ... I'm just amazed you were able to eat that much at one time. There's no way I could get down 2-3 cups of anything, especially something that has to be chewed so well.

Mark it up to a learning experience, let it go, and move forward!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
