bobby_hamrick 0 Posted April 8, 2004 I know you have investigated this right? The bypass is a very serious Op, The Band works and there is proof here. Just read on. I would not have opted for all the rearranging of the bypass. The band is a tool and I have seen many people dropping the weight that does not come back. You can eat around the band but it takes work I mean you can drink cals or wash down quite a bit but its hard not to make it work. Read and read some more.I wouldn't sell mine for nothing its been the perfect solution. Its been slow but sure. 276-230 since August.
Guest bubbles Posted April 8, 2004 Weight loss is a challenge no matter ho you go about it...there is no method that's easy. When a back specialist recommended a gastric bypass for me, instead of spinal fusion, I was shocked. This was something I had never considered. My PCP had just heard about the band when I consulted him about the bypass and he thought it was a much better option for me. I did a lot of research on both!! Two or three things really sold me on the band, even though weight loss appeared to be quicker with the bypass: 1. Compare mortality rates!! You may be shocked at how many people die from complications with the bypass. 2. Look at malabsorption issues with the bypass....how will your body continue to get the nutrients it needs to be healthy? 3. Banding is reversible. Although I didn't anticipate that I would ever want to get rid of it....and at this point I certainly don't.
angelatn2001 0 Posted April 8, 2004 Well i know from personal experience that the band works as well if not better than the by pass. My aunt had the bypass about 4-5 years ago and only lost 60 lbs total!! I had the band I am only 1 1/2 years out and already lost 125llbs. And if that is not enough my cousins mother-in-law had the bypass and died from complications. There are many people on this site that are more than willing to share their stories about the band. If i were you i would keep doing research and maybe try going to support group meetings in your area. good luck on your research! Angela
