Recommended Posts

Didn't know where to post this... sorry

Anyway... about two months ago, I started noticing how big my Pomeranian has gotten, got her shaved for the summer and I reallt noticed how big she had gotten.

I had my son weigh her........... 19 pounds!!!

Her breathing was labored...

So I changed her diet up, and I been taking her on "short walks"

And I weighed her this morning.......... she lost 4 pounds!!!

wooo hooo!!!

I want her to be healthy too!

Great job Chancie! I have two dogs, one I have been successful and having her lose 3lbs (she "could lose a little" per the vet) when we went back she had. I measure her food and play non-stop (so it seems) with her. Now my Pom/Chihauhua mix...having a tough time getting him to lose a pound. I measure his food and he only gets one treat a day. So I ended up cutting his food back a little more still nothing so it looks like doggie diet food for him. He weighs 13lbs and the vet wants him down to 11, once it cools off we will be taking walks more often.

Congrats to you and your baby!

I too noticed my dog was wadling when she walked. She is over 70 lbs so I couldn't pick her up to hold her and weigh her so I don't know how much she gained but I think about 5-8 lbs. She is on a diet now too and has lost at least 5 lbs I bet. Her tummy doesnt sway back and forth when she walks with me.

I love that our dogs are getting healthier with us! I have two dogs, the lab is perfect weight. But, the doxie was about six pounds over weight. His belly almost dragged the ground when he walked. Now, when I go out for walks, they both go with me. I also put Winston on the weight management dog food and he has now lost three pounds.

It's hard for our dogs to lose weight too!

I want my lucy with me for a long time! She's 5 and slowing down a bit, and noticing her having trouble I wanted to help.

I have a little yorkie too- he's 2 and pretty active. Since she lost the wieght she's playing with him more too!!

Glad to see others are helping their fur babies too!! :001_tt2:

Hmmm, maybe we should start a weight loss support site for doggies?

We were talking about this at work today and someone said "If your dog is fat, YOU'RE not getting enough exercise" :001_smile:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
