30 day shred

My gym is going to be starting classes. I am not sure when, but they have been playing the DVDs in the reception area and I can hardly wait for the classes to start.

Look at the U tube demonstration on the beginning of this thread. It looks like so much fun!

Wow, I started looking for classes near my house and found a bunch! Now how many weeks do I need to wait post op before I start these classes?

Dr. Aceves says 6 weeks and then you can exercise as tolerated. (Gonna have to get that list of classes from you - maybe we can go together!)

omg ash i do walk away the lbs too. And i'm so annoyed and tired of it as well. i hate the boring music, the boring moves and the boring people- including the instructor.

Now i'm all for danceing as excersise but it looks alittle too fun and easy for me. There's no reps or anything. It just looks like danceing. Do people really get a good cardio workout with this? i cant do a class but i can do dvds. i think i might give the zumba a try.

I love Zumba and I usually burn between 500-700 calories, depending on how long I do it. Last night I did 45 minutes and burned a little over 600 calories.

I'm going to start adding in the 30 day shred twice a week. I did level one of the shred Monday and I'm in so much pain STILL today. I'm way out of shape strength-wise. I've got plenty of cardio endurance, but when it comes to strength and flexibility, I'm out.

I took about a month and a half break from exercising (Thanksgiving until this week) because of all sorts of fun excuses...I was sick, had a back thing, got a puppy, etc. HAHA! But now I'm motivated again and I'm trying to see where I can squeeze in a workout this afternoon when I really don't have time for it, but we shall see!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
