Congratulations!! It's weird that our bodies don't drop inches and pounds at the same rate or time -- but a 38" waist and an XL shirt is awesome!!

I wake up each day thinking - "Unbelieveable!" VSG on 6-2, down 83 lbs with 17 to goal! Have gone from size 20-22 to size 10-12 skirts (REGULAR SIZE NOT WOMENS!) and Large top!

Just going into "normal" (sorry if that sounds rude but you guys know what I mean) stores and putting on a size 12 skirt and thinking, "Maybe I need a 10" is totally mind boggling!

Would do it all again today if I had to - utterly amazing! Haven't had any major issues other than extreme light headedness and low blood pressure at times and have to watch how quickly I jump up out of bed. (knoced myself out and cut my lip open early on!!!) But sooooo thankful!

Congrats to all my fellow "sleevers!"

I recently gave away a bunch of clothes that were the smallest size I've worn in a LONG time - like 20 years. I didn't sweat it one bit as I put them in bags and sent them on their merry way. Good riddance and on to smaller sizes! :P Yeah!!!

Next week I will Celebrate my 6 month surgiversary. Brassiere: 42G (and truthfully uncomfortable and spilling out) to a 38DD. Pants: 24 and uncomfortable, to 18 and perfectly loose (16s still too snug for real comfort).

But the real NSV that I had recently, can only be appreciated by my peeps who have Been There: It was really cold the other day and I had left my jacket in the office. A colleague offered me her windbreaker. She's kinda chunky-fat and if I were to guess her pant size I might say ... near mine I guess, 16-18. But Before Surgery I just would have insisted through my blue chattering lips that I wasn't cold at all, just to avoid the embarrassment of a jacket that didn't fit.

This time I accepted the jacket, put it on, and it engulfed me. Too big. =) =) =)

I Just had a similar one right now.I Never use my husbands t-shirts cause I know they fit me even though he's big (tall and muscles and a bit of a beer belly but not obese at all) put one of his t-shirts on now (emergency) and it's huge!!

Chilo that is amazing!! I have, in an emergency, put on one of my husband's and it's still snug (he's my height and weighs less - sigh). So hoooooray!!! that's truly awesome -- I can hardly wait till I'm where you are :D

Hi all. I am now down roughly 60 pounds and seven weeks out from when I started my liquid pre-diet. Am also having some awesome NSV moments. Some are:

  • No longer wearing 3x shirts. They are packed and ready to be taken to Goodwill.
  • My size 48 (expandable) pants? Gone too.
  • Can button my pants at my belly button. No more "slant pants."
  • I wore a much smaller belt...and it was a new one!
  • Went three days this past week without needing a mid day nap.
  • Three days now without any slimes or throwing up.
  • Joined a local health club to work out.
  • Snoring is all but gone. No more BP meds at all (125/65 is normal now). And BMs much more normal and less stressful.
  • Bought myself an I-touch. That was my 50 pound loss gift to myself. Any suggestions for the 100 plateau?

That's a short list, but ones that come to mind.

Let's look at the fact that this journey is not just about the weight loss, but about all the wonderful things that continue to happen along the ride! :001_tongue:

Well, I've crossed the overweight/normal weight barrier, so there have been quite a few NSVs lately.

1) Can fully cross my legs without getting uncomfortable at all.

2) Was in a clinical skills session where the doctor was using me to show the sternoclavicular joints and everybody in my group said, "WOW, you have such big clavicles, I can see everything!"

3) Running at 6.0 mph is too slow now - I used to struggle with 6.5 mph, but now it's my cruisin' speed! Haven't run any 5Ks or 10Ks since the surgery, but I suspect my time will improve quite a bit. I also walk way faster!

4) Went to an adult ballet class and was the fittest person there (not the skinniest, but definitely the strongest). The teacher said "You clearly have had some ballet training, so you should check out a higher level class." For someone who's always been fat and clumsy, that was huge! To top it all off, I placed in 4th level ballet even though I had only had the equivalent of 1 level of training. Now that the weight isn't getting in the way, my natural strength and flexibility are finally visible!

5) I don't even think about walking a couple of flights of stairs, I don't get out of breath at all.

6) My "skinny clothes" of yore are all at Goodwill or sold on Ebay now, because they were all way too big!

7) I can wear regular boots instead of special-ordering wide-calf ones and paying 3x the price.

I really REALLY want to take ballet, a lifelong dream deferred. Is this a national chain class or just local to your town or a class at the gym?

It's a local class. When I started looking for one, I found that there are TONS of adult ballet classes in town. My city's about 1 million people and I'd say there's between 10 and 15 legitimate dance studios offering adult ballet - all the teachers are certified by RAD or Cecchetti so technically they could even teach pre-professional classes. I take classes at my university and at a regular dance studio. There's also a professional ballet school in my town, but due to the location, I prefer not to take classes there - however, they have a summer intensive for adults, which I intend to register for in a few months. Some schools will also let you take syllabus classes with the kids if you show that you are a serious student, so you can proceed according to grade level and take international exams - I'm thinking of doing that next year depending on my school schedule. If you take syllabus classes, you have the potential to go en pointe in 2-3 years, which is a huge motivator for me!

Went out with my friend today shopping, as we do most saturdays while our girls are at ballet classes, for the first time ever (she pointed this out, not me) I actually went into the changing rooms, tried a few trousers on compared them with hers, just normal things! I used to buy stuff that i thought would fit and them just change/or return them if i didn't like them. I didn't buy anything, I'm in between a size 14 and 12 (12 and 10 US) Priceless!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
