youknowit 11 Posted September 13, 2010 I saw an acquaintance that I hadn't seen in months today and said "Hi Jerry" as I walked past him. About 15 mins later he walked up to me and said "Where do I know you from?" He actually didn't even recoginze me at all. We both had a good chuckle after I told him who I was. lol That's awesome, Barbara! I must say, I've actually been able to use my major change in appearance to my advantage too... someone I never liked and who was always mean to me back in the day ran in to me at a local store, they looked right at me, and they were trying to place who I was... by the time they were able to figure it out, I had looked right back in their face and walked off. It was priceless... I heard through the grapevine that they told some people they swear they saw me, but weren't sure, I was too skinny. LOL... if 150 lbs is too skinny, I'll take it! :001_smile: hehe
Bona Fide Diva 3 Posted September 13, 2010 Went to take the babe (3 yr old) to Denny's for Breakfast. It was freezing in there. Anyway she wanted to sit on my lap...in the booth...UGH! She fit! She fit on my lap with my legs under and everything. I just smiled and told her I would hold her as long as she wanted me too...didnt last long when her food arrived. 1 njgal reacted to this

a.walker 2 Posted September 15, 2010 This is my first NSV I've posted, but I had 2 in one day on Monday. First, before surgery I was a sweets-aholic. No chocolate was safe in my presence. I devoured candy bars like they were evil demons that must be demolished as quickly as possible. Since surgery, I was afraid to have anything like that around. My 7-year old, though, wanted some Reese's pb cups at the grocery store. He likes to buy Lunchables just for the treats, but never eats them, so we made a deal that he could get the candy, but no Lunchables, and he only gets them after he eats a decent meal. So, we've had them sitting in the fridge for about 2 weeks, and I haven't touched them. I haven't really even thought about them until I realized how amazing that was. Second, I was at work, wearing my smallest pair of scrubs (which are still huge, but the smallest that I own right now), and a co-worker said, "Wow, your scrubs are getting really big on you. How much have you lost?" The scale has been a little slow these past few days, so it was really nice to hear. Yay for NSVs! 1 njgal reacted to this
educationrulz 18 Posted September 26, 2010 A few days ago, I got a last minute notice about an important professional event. I needed a suit, like the next day! Yikes! Both of the suits I owned are size 22W and way too big. So, I planned on Macy's after work. I decided to go straight to the women's section, grab something in an 18, and get home. Well, I was standing in the dressing room in the size 18W suit and it was loose and baggy! You might as well have hit me over the head with a brick. I thought about getting a 16W but I wasn't excited about what the options were. I stood there trying to decide what to do and it slowly dawned on me to go to the misses section and try on an 18 there. When I got there it was like walking into clothes heaven. There were so many more options, as I had suspected. I felt like an interloper (like people were looking at me thinking I was too big to be in that section) but I quickly found several gorgeous suits in 18. I still didn't think they would fit. I tried on one of the jackets out on the floor and low and behold it fit nicely. I RAN to the dressing room with 3 or 4 suits and had a great time trying them on (all with my 5 year old in tow). I left with a beautiful suit and coordinating shirt and looked FABULOUS the next day - if I may say so myself. I got a lot of compliments from coworkers also. I can't wait to go back and get another suit on sale. I've always salivated over those nice suits that I saw in the "suit section" (especially the Kasper suits). Now I can actually go and buy them! I don't plan to make it a habit with my size changing so much right now, but it's nice to finally have something really nice in my closet to wear. I feel like I've been let into some exclusive club. It's great!
youknowit 11 Posted September 26, 2010 That's awesome! I remember going through these same emotions and situations, and am feeling these things again now... I have often picked up the wrong size pants when shopping now, because I cannot process that I'm a size 8/10 now, rather than the size 14 I'm stuck at in my head... I have to have a moment of clarity almost every time I shop, and realize that I'm a whole other body now, even though my mind is having a hard time catching up. Best to you, and congrats!:smile::smile::smile:
AJW 18 Posted September 26, 2010 Hey Mary, isn't that sweet?! Good for you. I was thinking that very thing as I was reading your story: get out of the W section. Awesome! Enjoy the high, it only gets better from here out.

KathyM 14 Posted September 26, 2010 I started this journey at 308 and today I weigh 150. My bathroom has a really big mirror on the wall across from the toilet. This weekend while I have been puttering about doing things at home, every time I have been in the bathroom I keep staring at myself in the mirror - I know that sounds so weird - but it's like I don't recognize my body. I have a waist and my shirts aren't stretched to the max around my tummy. I know my scrubs are big on me at work, and the clothes I wear around the house are not tight anymore, but I haven't really felt smaller until this weekend. It feels soooo good. currysusan123 2 Posted September 27, 2010 I fit in the booth at Red Lobster!!! Goodbye to requesting table only for everyone just because I couldn't fit in a booth.
Dickson 3 Posted September 28, 2010 Wow, let's see is it Being able to sit in a booth at a resturant and not have belly touch the table? Being able to bend over to tie my shoes and not hold my breath while doing it? Putting on my old belt and having to slide into two slots back on the pants due to so much extra hanging out? Being able to look down and actually see my toes or the scale for that matter? Knowing that when we go to Disneyworld this Christmas I will be able to ride any ride I want and not have to worry about the bar not fitting over me? Being able to reach down to let off the emergency brake and not feel like I can just reach due to the seat belt limitations? Being on an airplane this week to Hawaii and fitting in the seat with comfort? Hmmmmmm I guess I can't think of any lol. Great job to everyone!
Maddie 9 Posted September 30, 2010 My granddaughter walked up and hugged me around the waist, and said "Nana, look, my arms go all the way around you now"! It was a first and it felt so good that a 6 yr old would even notice the change. I smiled all day long.
Jolanda 23 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) I hadn't even realised this topic existed until some kind soul pointed it out to me. I'm so close to goal I'm maintaining, and some high points so far: * A lady (a customer, too, not a saleswoman) in the clothes shop I asked if a sweater looked good on me or not saying "Yes, it does, because you're so thin!" * Being able to run just because it feels good * Being able to ride any horse (weight wise, that is) * Being able to shop for clothes that are perfect both in colour and fit, not just buying them because I can get into them * Not recognising my own reflection if I walk past a mirror unexpectedly * Having a completely strange guy come up to me and give me a compliment at a trade fair I was at. Sure, I kind of froze, just said thank you and blushed, so nothing came of it, but it still made my day. Hell, it made my week! *Being able to do things in Pilates class that were impossible a year ago Did I say getting sleeved was the best decision I ever made? It was. branc1 2 Posted October 1, 2010 I had an NSV today that thrilled me more than I can say. I pick up my grandson at school everyday and drop him off on my way to work. I went to a smaller size unifrorm yesterday but my son was on the phone arguing with his satellite company and didn't notice anything :-(. Today however when I got there he said "Let me look at you! Momma you look like you did when I was in high school(10 yrs ago)!' I have been dancing on air all evening. Whoop, whoop, whoop!
