Out of the twos!

Recommended Posts

It seemed my stall broke this week so I started weighing myself again everyday and this morning I am 199.5!!!! I am so excited! This was my first mini-goal and I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I know it's not much different than I weighed yesterday, but it just feels so great to be under 200 lbs.

Thank you everyone! I'm just so happy. I wanted to tell everyone I've run into today, but knew it wouldn't be quite appropriate. I'm really trying hard not to talk a lot about my weight loss in real life as I know it can kind of get annoying. So thank you all for your support and encouragement!

DeeDee,

YIPEEE. I am so happy for you. Can't wait until I follow in your footsteps. Will be sleeved soon... I have not been under 200 since 1990! It is so amazing to see the progress made after being sleeved...almost a miracle when you consider how fast it happens.

Keep on keeping on!

The ONE's is a great place to be. Just think of the next time you go to the doctor and they are schooching the thing over on the scale - they will stop before the TWO. Hooray!

Congratulations Dee Dee - my August 4th Sleeve buddy. Keep up the good work.

Onederland is AWESOME! I found myself there this morning - 198 (how do we not lose anything for several days/weeks and then lose 3 lbs overnight? Whatever, I will take the loss any way I can.

Linda - CONGRATULATIONS... I hope to be there soon; but fear at I'm at another stall ... we'll see what Monday brings.

Thanks Vegas. I keep stalling then losing. I think my 15 hour days at work this week (on my feet, running around with my head cut off) seemed to be the "magic" trick to finally break out of the low 200's.

Someone on the board mentioned a scale gremlin who stuck his foot on the scale to keep you right above 200. I finally squashed that little stinker this morning. :001_smile:

Yay Linda! I cannot believe how time is flying away from that August 4th date after it seemed like it would never get here. Wow on your 15 hour work days...I guess you can look at them as sort of a blessing in disguise since it helped break your stall:-) I'm just beginning another one I think, so I'll be trying (we'll see) to stay off of the scale for a couple of days.

Vegas--good luck! The neat thing is you know it's going to happen.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
