clear liquid requirement

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at the requirements for Clear liquids phase, first 10 days post op. Dr. Aceves' instructions say "nothing other than Clear Liquids and a Protein supplement such as Isopure or whey protein . Is Jay Robb chocolate Protein powder mixed with milk acceptable, or does it have to be mixed with Water? It is certainly not "clear" even mixed with water. I don't like the taste unless mixed with milk.

Or is isopure a "clear" Protein Drink? If required, I will drink anything in order to follow the requirements, but if Jay Robb mixed with milk meets the requirements, I'd be more happy. Anybody know?

Thanks

Nope, mixed with milk is not clear. Isopure is a clear, if you can stand it. Most people don't like it.

I bought unflavored Protein powder at GNC and mixed it with crystal lite.

What Daisy said, milk definitely is a no-no during the clear liquids phase. I found it really, really difficult to get in my required Protein until I hit the mushies phase.

What brand are you using? I got mine at GNC and it was their own brand.

I am using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I can't even tell it is mixed in unless I dump the whole packet into like 4 oz. Better to use 8 oz or more and sip. It does foam what you are drinking a little so I put it in the fridge for about 8 mins. I don't like the foam. It makes me burp and that hurts sometimes.

Oh and hicups after surgery.........

I just returned home from Meixico last night. I had my surgery with Dr. Rod in Juarez on Monday. I am struggling with getting in both clear liquids and Protein. I find that even though I am sipping all day, the sips are so small it takes all day to get in 40-60 oz. I am sure this must get a little easier over time?

Don't worry cat it does. I am 8 days out and it is easier now to drink. I promise it gets better as you heal.

Oh and congrats to you if you are getting 40 oz! I just got 35 yesterday.

Yes, it definitely gets easier. I regularly drink 80-100 oz a day!

WOW!!! That is a lot of liquid. I am determined and will stick with it. I am going on a long walk today in my neighborhood. Before surgery, I enjoyed really gulping that cold Water when I got hot from walking or working out. I know I can't do that or it will hurt and is probably dangerous. I am going to sip on my water the whole time I am walking. THANKS AGAIN...YOU GUYS ARE SO GREAT.

I just don't like my Water or liquids to be too cold. it seems to go down a lot easier for me if I drink it room temp or a little bit colder. I too drink about 80-100 oz per day with no trouble. It takes me 24 oz just to get my morning pills down.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
