wayupnorth 1 Posted August 27, 2009 What do most of you keep track of carbs or calories. I know Atkins is all about carb counting. Is this what is most important to keep track of?????
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted August 27, 2009 I think it's important to keep track of both. I keep the carbs down because carbs make me crave more carbs. Dr. Aceves likes us to eat around 800 calories per day.
MacMadame 81 Posted August 27, 2009 In the end, you have to keep calories down. Even Dr. Atkins says so if pressed. My mom dated a guy who consulted with him when the diet wasn't working for him and Dr. Atkins told him flat out that even though he says in his book that you can eat "whatever you want," that doesn't mean you can eat 3 steaks for dinner. (And the guy did eat 3 steaks for dinner.)
Jachut 487 Posted August 27, 2009 Calories. I've never ever been a low carb dieter, and whilst I appreciate the theory behind low carb eating, I think the practical application of it for real people leads to a truly horrible diet. I've eaten good carbs the entire way through my journey and never limited to them, so for me, its calories that matter. I dont actually count those either though - although just roughly calculating is a daily habit. I lost well on about 1500 a day.
Phoenixrising 0 Posted August 28, 2009 I can tell you what is working for me at 14 mos out. I i keep my carbs less than 80 gms per day, usually around 60 depending on how much I am burning by exercise. I take in 80-100 gms of Protein and I keep my fat around 30 gms. I do not diet per se, I eat Cookies sometimes, not often, I eat cake sometimes, not often. Most of my carbs come from fruit because I like fruit, I am not a huge Pasta or bread person. For me it is about making better choices and the sleeve helps me do that
