LadyDaDa - I don't know anything about Dr. Ganta; however, I did want to take the time to welcome you to VST. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, someone will always have an answer for you.

Hello,

Fellow Austinite here, I have had a consult with Dr. Ganta. I really liked him, he was to do my lap band through True Results. It was during his consult that I decided the sleeve was better for me. Insurance was going to cover the band. I am self-pay for the sleeve, that is why I am going to Mexico. He seemed really informed about the sleeve and I think he preferred it over the band, as long as you were willing accept the increased risks in the first 30 days due to leaks. He told me he had done about 80 sleeves as of August 09.

Good luck with your revision.

Lady Dada> I've found a couple of folks at OH that had their sleeve with Dr. Ganta. Will try to send you a private message.

A friend of mine and I are planning on having the sleeve gastrectomy performed by Dr. Ganta in Austin, TX. I know you were going to send a private message to Lady Dada regarding people you know that have had their surgery with him. I wanted to find out if you would be willing to send me the same message. Thanks!

What's the word on Dr. Ganta? I'm looking for a vsg doc for my mom in Austin. I had mine last year in Mexicali with the amazing Dr. Aceves but my mom has insurance that may pay for hers in Texas.

Any suggestions are very appreciated.

I love Dr. Ganta at AIBL in Austin! I am 7 weeks post-op now and ::knocking on wood:: have not had any complications. I was a self-pay, so if your Mom's insurance denies it Dr. Ganta has a lower cost than most I checked into. My husband also really liked Dr. Ganta and my husband doesn't care for doctors, so that's really saying something. He has a nutritionist, and fitness (couselor) on staff. Plus, they have their monthly support groups on-site. If you, or your Mom, have any other questions about their facility that I can answer I'd be happy to. :blushing:

Inside-

Thanks so much! Do you know how many he's done at this point? The thing I loved about Dr. A was that he had so many years of experience in them.

Congrats on the weight loss! I had my sleeve done last July 5th and am now a permanent size 6 -8. It just gets easier and easier! I remember that I was still a bit unsure of how to eat 7 weeks out - but now it's a piece of cake. (A very small piece of cake...:blushing:)

Best,

ID

Congrats on your weight loss!!! Dr. Ganta has performed around 100 VSGs and does 3-4 per week.

Do you know what the cost is? How long it takes to have the surgery after initial consult? I cannot get any info from his office.

I am new to the board (this is my first post) and am a patient of Dr. Ganta's. Like the husband of a previous poster on this thread, I really don't like or feel comfortable around many doctors. That being said, I am very comfortable with Dr. Ganta. I have known Dr. Ganta for a year now and am very impressed with him as a person and as a physician.

I will be going through my procedure in October. Although I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Ganta, I too would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the procedure with him so I kinda have a better idea of what to expect during the pre-op "rodeo" with Seton, post-op stay in Seton, and overall post-op experience.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
